I'm buying a laptop soon, with the ati mobility x300 with 128mb dedicated memory. will that be able to play games like halflife 2 etc ? anybody have a computer with this card?

also i was wondering if anyone has a inspiron 6000 and what they think of it.

the one i'm looking at has:
1.7ghz pentium M (533mhz 2mb cashe)
15.4 Inch WUXGA (1920 x something i think)
Ati Mobility x300 128mb
60gb 7200rpm
1gb ddr2 ram

It'll be able to play Half-Life 2, I mean, I played it on my friend's computer with a Geforce 2 and it didn't play that horribly.

3d - that's exactly the specs of the laptop (w/e of x300 64MB, and 40GB HD) I bought from Dell a few days ago: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=i6000S3&s=dhs I paid about 800 for it after the $750 coupon, and I paid another 120 for 1GB of Ram from Newegg.

The x600 for laptops aren't that much of an improvement over the X300. You can overclock the X300 to ATI's specifications if you want, and you get around the speed of an X600. The nVidia GeForce Go 6800 is one of the best mobile graphics cards you can get.

I read from users on notebookforums.com that they were able to play CS:S on medium settings using the X300, so you should be able to play HL2 well.
