Hi guys :)

I've been thinking about buying a mac mini for a while now its sole purpose really will be java dev and browsing the internet...but I'm still in two minds whether or not to get one. Can anyone give me a few reasons why I should...I'm being serious the feedback may cement my decision.

Also does anyone know what the name is for like a switch so I can have a 2 port serial so my monitor can be plugged into my pc and mac mini at same time...and when I switch one on I can just flip a switch or something instead of unpluggin it from my pc and swithing to the mac all the time????

cheers :)

p.s. does xcode 2 come with osx 10.4 as standard???

I think XCode comes with 10.4 as part of the "developer tools" CD or something like that..

Hehe. Yup ;)

Speaking of which, make sure you get one that makes a 'blip' noise when you press the button
I saw someone using one before... it was like... *BLIP*... *huge grin*

For Java and browsing the web... Definitely.

Graphics programs and such run okay (as in not as smooth as a professional developer *should* have) because of the lack of a good video card. That is why I'm buying a super awesome, powerful, cheap PC. :D

It comes with Tiger preinstalled, reason enough for me to buy one! No, really, I am buying one in like a week.

uhm, pro users (like myself) are using powermacs with powerfull video cards and dual screens. I use the imac only for accountancy and online banking ;)

Well of course, however, we weren't talking about those.

Sluggish graphics on the Mac Mini and lack of CoreImage and Quartz Extreme are the reasons I switched back to Panther on my Mac Mini.

MAC's are horrible, or atleast Safari is... My cousin has a really nice new one, and when I ever sign into KF on Safari (Mac's browser) it crashes... *sigh
