Is it just my imagination or has there been a flood of really, really annoying people posting. I just realized that there have been a few people the last couple of days that have just made me want to reach through the computer and *****-slap them. I was just curious if anyone noticed this too....That guy that called you all retards because you didn't know about Brinkster, and then he asked for the Flash 4 serial number! And the one that was trying to get Pom to make the site for them. ahhhhhh well...I lost faith in humanity long ago...This just adds evidence to my argument that I was right to do so.

Be nice all of you. Of course there will always be those frustrating times.. both with study, and here on this board.. just remember that ignorance of a subject is not the fault of the questioner.. no matter what you're feeling like on any particular day. We've all been ignorant at one time or another and the reason that people come here as opposed to elsewhere is that we are not condescending or insulting when we're asked those questions.
Bless you all for being patient :)

Y'mean a home-made one?
Hmm... Good question. I've never tried, but I'd imagine the only side effect is that it'd throw ads in to it, but if you make them pop-up ads it won't disrupt your layout and will just be annoying. So, yes. It should work.

It wasn't the ignorance of people who didn't know what they are doing, it was the stupidity in which they conveyed themselves. I understand that some people don't understand certain things, but to ask for a serial # and call some of you retards for not knowing about brinkster is a little rude and arrogant and stupid in my opinion. I am more than willing to help people who are curtious and nice and patient, however once someone starts to annoy me, I refuse to pay attention to that person at all....its just one of the things that bothers me above all....

Yeah Upu, sorry about the retard thing. I feel your pain on that, its just that I have become desensitized to it. My uncle is mentally handicapped. He was born in the 1960s and my grandparents don't know what is wrong with him, and they never really got anything checked out. So he basically has the mentality of an infant. He has to be fed, changed, and he wets himself. He has no teeth and has sores on his face from repeatedly beating his chin with his fist, he can't walk or talk either. Since I have grown up with him always being there, I feel for him. I truly understand where you are coming from when you say that. However, where I come from, my highschool, everyone said that word, and it made me mad, but over the years I have become desensitized and it slipped. I am sure that when I was typing I meant something else, but I get into these zones where nothing phases me. I apologize and did not mean to offend anyone.

Hey Jubba... I must really be losing it.. check out the Flash 5 forum a post called "How do you build a site like this".
Also.. for everyone who is a regular, go to the test forum and check out my thread on "Rules for posting at Kirupa". I'd like feedback, and any other good rules to put in the post. I may not add your suggestion, but at least I'll be discussing the idea there for the next couple of days. Then I'll be replacing our current sticky posts in each of the forums with a single post that covers all of our desires for people posting here.

Ok... something's been bubbling up and I'm about to explode:
There really is a lot of beyond n00bish questions such as that "How do you" thread. There's also a lot of flooding of threads, inappropriately placed threads (ie: a site check in the random forum when there's a specific forum to place such things). It's really taxing to sort through these threads to find the meat and potatoes threads. I was thinking that maybe we should begin a "Newbies" section of the board - but that would probably be fruitless, since people are probably going to still post their "Can anyone give me the serial number" posts in the Actionscript forum. What the deal yo?
End rant.
lobstars
May 7th, 2002, 01:34 PM
alot of you probably wont agree with me but I also think there should be a newbie section. I can see what everyone means about stupid questions, I can see how it annoys some of you. In my opinion I think some people just don't know really what they're asking about in the first place cause they're so new to flash and haven't really gone through the help section that comes with the disk.
Ofcourse that's really down to there lack of trying to learn and others shouldn't have to spend there time sometimes trying to explain the impossible!
If there was a newbie section anyone posting about things that they ovbiously haven't looked into in the first place, then maybe these people could be told to go to the newb section and post there.
Even a simple please see the rules message, might do the trick.

Just to clarify - It's OK to ask newbie questions and it's ok to not know some really basic things about flash and it's OK to ask these questions here. But flooding the forum with the SAME question or multiple postings, and lastly, newbs who don't want to try and just want us to do the work for them - that's just annoying!
pezdemon
May 7th, 2002, 02:32 PM
I may be a 'n00b' to flash, however...
Everyone starts somewhere, and I am no way a n00b to webdesign, I do proffesional designs for bands in my area and get payed for it too, its not really a business, but its a way to support me through college, and by learning flash i hope it will enhance my webdesign from being graphics and text.
I am one of the ones who is more than willing to learn, and I also have a lot to give on the front of webdesign that doesnt involve flash :D
One way we found of getting round the newbs posting their questions in every forum was to put posting restrictions on every other forums. So only people over a certain number of posts could post in the restricted forums, and put the newbie forums up the top for all the one time posters to get their questions answered.
And i do agree with you about people who think we'll do all the work for them are very annoying, at a HTML forum i seemed to be churning out more newbie sites that i was my own!
Peace :)

May 7th, 2002, 03:00 PM
Those are some excellent suggestions pezdemon! But what about advanced scripters who are new to the site but are no stranger to Flash? Maybe we could put the Newbie up above the other forums, so they see that first and might be more inclined to post there. The thing is this: I think that a lot of these newbies are not just new to flash, they're new to the internet. They have no grasp of etiquette thus they don't see anything wrong with posting their question in more than one thread. They think it will bring more attention to their question, and probably don't think they're annoying anyone.

May 7th, 2002, 03:14 PM
I dunno, I think newbies should be able to ask whatever type of pathetic newbie question they want, although I agree that when people ask the same question multiple times.
Besides, we already have a newbie thread, really. There's Flash 5 for new(er)bies and Flash 5: Action Script for the experts.
What really pisses me off is when people post the same thing in multiple forums. N'est pas, Phil?

Ren, you're probably right about them being new, but i think they're to forums, hell, when I first went on some forums I spammed so much it wasnt even funny, but you learn, and I'm a moderator of the final fantasy forums over on mgon (www.mgon.com) so, it is a tough learning process, especially when you have lots of experienced people around. Unless you drew up a short code of conduct (hell, i cant be bothered reading long ones!) and just made them read it before being sent to the forums. Even if just a few people read it the number of idiots could be cut down :D

impatience is my biggest gripe. We however, also need to be patient with them.. The fact is, we will ALWAYS get people in here who have limited understanding of how to "subject" their posts. I think that my post of "Rules: please read before posting" is as good as we're going to get, and as good as Kirupa is going to let us get away with. So far I havent' talked to him in three days, so I don't even know if he's read this thread... but I have the feeling that most of the above ideas, though fun to talk about here, are unlikely to be used. The idea is to attract people, not send them crying to their mommies. ;)
Give me feedback in that thread (It's in the test forum). Once I have a good comprehensive set of rules, I'll petition Kirupa to have that one single post "sticky tacked" to the top of each forum. That, in addition to my tutorials for newbies, I hope, will solve most of our problems. If someone asks something really basic, I'm hoping that you all will direct them to my site for lessons. Then at least they will have the basic core knowledge which will allow them to know what they should ask.
PS
Koodos to a couple of people out there.. you know who you are, who have been writing me emails pointing out posts with illegal software links. We've been doing our best to delete them where we find them.. and will just continue to do that. There is little more that can be done in most cases.
Some of you have writen me expressing concern that you might be looked upon as rats, or internet police for your actions. A) I'll never say who has and who has not pointed out posts to me.. so your rep is not in danger, but more importantly B) You're not being a rat, you're protecting Kirupa. There is no reason why this site should be shut down for something as stupid as piracy promotion.
Anyway.. we appreciate your vigilance and efforts. Keep up the good work.

Hey everyone,
I might as well throw in my penny too. First I was wondering how long it was going to take phor my name to come up in this thread, then live phuphilled the prophecy! Doh!
First of all, I would have to say that I agree mostly with Dave, although Pez had a really good suggestion about restrictions that made me start thinking about it. Not being able to post in certain grown up sections until...Bad idea. And I'll be frank here, then phil again, but thats what the Mods job is. And they know it, hence Dave, not wanting to set anyone up for disappointment, has stated most if not all these suggestions will not be implemented.
And as I read through these posts for the last day or two the same thing kept coming to me. All these people need to be welcomed, and remember, they can read this post too. The times I have posted the same message in different boards there was a purpose. To spam the hell out of Kirupa and see if I could get away with it. Doh! :D The purpose was that there are some people that do not leave their areas and I needed to reach them and I feel it was appropriatte. Its not like this board is like FlashKit where theres a zillion posts. When Neurons post went unanswered, I was unaware it had been posted elsewhere, but felt the need to remove myself from my selfishness and see if I could encourage him in some way, and help phill his need, as a proud member of Kirupa. (Right hand outstrectched over my heart, and misty eyed :x ) I didn't want him to go away, and I know thats not anyone elses purpose either, but if you stand back and read this thread it would be easy for a newcomer that realizes he has made mistakes with ettiquette to feel unwelcome. Remember, there ARE mods, and it is their job to patrol while trolling the boards. Remember, we can always ignore posts as well. I have done a fairly good job of that for the last two months. Doh! Leaving a message on three boards is hardly spamming. And remember he posted with an intention of reply and noone knows what that is they are looking for when they post. They might have had a bunch of people that have little time or regard to offend tell them it is a great site when it sucks wafers and is an eyesore. And they might be looking for that 'it really sucks constructive criticism'. And please remember everybody that there are slow learners out there, I didn't want to be the one who made this point as it only shines the light on me, but some people have the best intentions but learn very slowly. Like me, but thats becuz part of my cerebrum was removed by a bullet when I was 13. You can see the scar in my picture. But excercise patience at all times with them and I guess if you can't then just don't respond, maybe someone else can or will. Or vice versa.
Also remember the tale of the Tortoise and the Hair. The Tortoise kept plugging while, well, we all know the story, but the moral of it is this; Many of these irritants as I might paraphrase some parts of this thread, will be the ones helping you out with problems on your site tomorrow, or they will answer the questions of a lesser you so you don't have to. Good with the bad or else there is no good to be got. Say that 3 times right now really fast! It's Phun! The real troublemakers will make themselves apparent. They always stick out. But with all these others we should make sure they always pheel welcome, and always want to return. Because this is NOT "our" board, it is our board.
pj
:p
BTW-just a warning-I am going to be spamming the boards with a message in the next day or two. There will be 3 posts, placed in 3 arenas, but there is a purpose, you see, I am phinally ready to publish (soon) and need to find a great, cheap, ASP/PHP server that has HUGE site allowance limits, unlimited bandwith usage and FTP's, Full Stats, and full control panel. The werks, I want it all. And I only want to spend 7-10 bucks a month. And in order to find e pluribus unim (out of many, one) I must have many replies. Just a warning so don't rag on me when you see em ok?

I thank them for that :)
Also I think when upu says that we should all point people out to his tut, yep I agree! people do need to gather some basic principals in flash before they start asking every question under the sun.

If it wasn't for the super-duper kindness of people like Dave, Eyezberg, Pom, Kirupa, Thoriphes, Suprabreener and a few others I cant think of putting up with my most foundational basic & stupid questions, I probably wouldn't have stuck around here. My longest post ever. Just a note: its long, and anything that is in quotes, isn't really a quote, its a paraphrase.
My reason for beginning this thread wasn't because Newbie questions were irritating me. It was because stupid questions were irritating me.
Example:
When someone in the Flash MX forum was trying to get Pom to do every little thing for them. Pom suggested a tutorial and immediately the response: "I don't understand it, can you do this for me?" Not, can you explain it for me, "can you do it for me?" That mad me angry because I think that Pom is a very nice and caring individual and I know that Pom would have helped that person out with whatever they wanted because of his niceness and desire to help someone in need. But to ask if he could do it for them is not only rude, but lazy and inconsiderate of Pom's, or anyone else's time. We all have lives that we live, and jobs that we have to accomplish and all of that comes before this board.
Example:
That person that called Pom and Lobstars retards because they didn't know about Brinkster. Then when Upu and a few others said something he said "Oh, shut up....Stop Throwing a fit." (or something to that effect). That is just plain rude; there is no way around that one. Then that person posts again and asks for a Serial numbers stating: "I know Kirupa doesn't allow talk about cracks, so can someone give me the serial number for flash 4?" Do I even have to say what I think about this one? This one is just stupid because the day before he called them retards and told Upu to stop have a fit. Upu wasn't having a fit, Upu is just a nice person that has ideals and values unlike anyone I know. Upu is a unique person and he is also willing to help anyone with anything as long as he knows how and that person is patient and kind in return. And he was in no way throwing a fit, he mearly stated that he did not appreciate the usage of the word "retard", and then I in turn accidently used that in this thread as well (did anyone actually read my post about my uncle? If not it was post 20 so its on the first page. Well, he's in the hospital now, they don't think he is going to make it...)
This board is full of unique people, all with their own strengths and weaknesses. Everyone here has some quality that makes this board one of the, if not the best Flash forum on the web. The people here are kind, quick to respond and more helpful than any other forum I have experienced. I suppose thats why there are a lot of impatient people that ask questions here. They probably went to other forums first and were sick of not being answered, and I understand that, because I have felt the same way. However, you have to understand, I am not a patient person, and still I never posted anything that was like "So you people are too cool to answer my question?" or anything like that, unless I was joking.
I don't want to scare people away from this board, I want more and more people to come here, because this board is a great community with a bunch of great people and this is the most helpful place I could find, and thats why I stayed here. My skills have improved quite a lot since that cold january day that I stumbled across Kirupa.com and I have met some interesting people. And I recommed this site to anyone that needs help with Flash or HTML, or you could be like Phil and just hang out in the Random section and talk about mass destruction.
I also understand that the people I am talking about can read this message, but maybe thats ok. Maybe then they would understand the Kirupa.com ettiquet (I butchered that word didnt' I?) that we all respect and appreciate from our fellow posters. Upu is making that Rules post and tacking it up to every forum (with Kirupa's permission) and hopefully that will get the message across. This message board is a lot more organized and a lot more populated, and getting bigger every day, than all of the other board I have come across. Kirupa's layout alone is amazing, you can tell that he cares about this site, and that he has put a lot of time into. The people that just throw a message board up and hope that people can navigate it are just lazy. Keep up the good work Kirupa!
Well, I guess I am going to take a shower and start work on my 10 page paper that is due in 24 hours. Wish me luck, I need it because I don't know what I'm supposed to write about, and my girlfriend is having trouble with the same paper and this is her major!! (Art history; she loves it, i cant stand it...) Ok everyone, if you all actually read through this then I appreciate it, becasue it took me quite a while to form what I wanted to say and then get it all down. Have a good day everyone...
Cheers,

I read it Jubs and my sentiments exactly! I'm not troubled at all that some people don't know Flash and tried to make that clear. Ovbiously it's only my opinion and that doesn't really count for much, but I can't see a cure for multipul posting, demanding things, or sheer rudeness. It's quite hard to understand really the majority of people understand the common fact that most people treat people just how they too would expect to be treated, so rudeness really doesn't go down to well :(
Funny thing is I never really paid any attention to it before, I'm reckoning this is because in truth I am preety much Mr Newb;) so I was having enough trouble with many other things. However though I really really can see exactly why this post was started in the first place.

Anyway, there really isn't even so much as disagreement here so I don't have much to add... BUT I'M GOING TO TALK ANYWAY! MWAHAHAHAHA!
Umm, anyway, I don't think we need a "newbie" forum, and I doubt we will, mainly because it's insulting. Personally, I'd be too stuck up and would constantly post things like "How do you hit F8?" on the expert forum just because I wouldn't want to lower myself. Others, on the other hand, would ask questions like "The creature's dance is slightly awkward on this complete 100% functional Flash-based replica of Black & White... What code do I need to add to it?" on the Newbie board purely because of low self-esteems.
And it's important to help the newbies. God knows I've asked more newbie questions than I didn't know the answer to (I think I answered about 50% of my questions on my own and 40% I figured out myself anyway but somebody else replied before I could say not to. I'm sort of a flawed human being in that sense - although only on this board, for some reason.)
And, for the record, because this is the most relevant place to say it, about Jubba's comment on our strengths and weaknesses and crap... If I tell you to go to hell, let the record show that means I respect you. Years of telling people to go to hell have made me incapable of saying anything else, so don't get offended no matter what I say. Idiot.

For the record..
I appreciate the kind words for me, really I do.. and I wont disagree too much. People who have been here from the beginning though know a little more because I tended to voice it a little more in the past than I do now.. so here it is for the record. ;)
The guy said he was just kidding with the retard comment. Now you may or may not believe that of him, but this is where you are correct in your assumption of me Jubba.. I am a really rare person who gives the benefit of the doubt to these people. The main reason is that the internet is a flawed way of communicating. There is no inflection on voice, no body language.. nothing to tell you if someone is joking or serious. So, in an effort to get along with people, I try very hard to give the benefit of the doubt to anyone. In that vein, I ask that you do the same.. you don't have to, but I'd like it a lot if you would.
As for my principals.. that's a little too high a praise for me. My stand is this. If you can get it, do so... if they haven't created a strong enough lock on their software then they deserve to have it stolen out from under them. The only place where this doesn't apply is software that is really really well made, and or that I'm making a profit off of. That is to say, support those who make good software so that they will continue to do so. Likewise pay for anything that you're making money off of.. that's just the moraly correct thing to do.
As for people who make crappy software, or music, or anything else.. they don't deserve pay in my book. If a band makes a cd and it's got one good song on it, and the rest suck, I'll get it offline... and I don't care who knows that. Same thing with games. I have many pirated games..I don't play them either. , cause they suck and I would have bought them if I really liked em.
The only principal I have with regard to this is that Kirupa must not be destroyed because of hacking conversation, or promotion. In general, I think Kirupa agrees with me in this thought line. I know many of you do.
So, thanks for patting my back.. I really do try very hard to be compassionate and patient with people and I am very glad that people recognize that as a possative trait.
I don't ask that anyone else be any more than what I am though. I smoke pot, I drink, I often get angry with my fiance.. I shirk my chores, I eat too much sweets and watch too much TV... in short, remember though I'm a nice guy in general, I'm still just a human, doing my best to live in this world with a whole lot of people who I really don't like much. (present company excluded) :)
(disclaimer: I quit smoking pot a couple months ago.. one of the reasons why it's so hard to produce lately.. my creativity will come back, I just happened to spend 20 years on dope and I need time to acclimate to living life without it.:) )
Again.. thanks.. with or without your praise I'd be me.. but somedays the pay for this nice guy job really sucks, it does help a lot to know that others appreciate my efforts.

hahah Live you kill me. You're right about the newbie forum, i don't really think that would be a good idea, and that wasn't what i was getting at. I really just wanted to vent my frustrations with finals and papers, and some people's inconsideratednessity, and I accidently sparked controversy. Not the first time I have done that, definately won't be the last.
Oh, and just for the record, no one should ever get offended at anything I say because I never really mean anything by it.
Ya posted too quick Upu. Well, I wasn't trying to say you were perfect. No one is. You just seem to be different from the people that i have grown up with (ghetto trash) and its nice to know that there are people out there that have the patience to deal with these people. Anyway, I really need more to do because I've been doing pretty well nothing but replying to posts on this thread and anxiously checking to see if anybody's replied yet for hours...

In addition, I wouldn't trade that part of my life for anything... AND I still fight for the controled legalization of the substance as well as it's non drug related cousin substance, hemp. I know plenty of people who are fine smoking pot regularly. Hell, I work with a 50 year old gent who's been smoking the stuff for 30 years or so. He's one of the highest paid programmers in my company. Like I said.. some people can do that.
For me, it's just too much of a strain on my well being to continue. As well, I wont say that I'll never do it again.. I just don't do the whole deal.. buying every week, worrying about the cops while I'm trying to get it to my house.. trying to get stuff done when I'm high 8 hours a day. But if 5 years down the road, I'm at a party and someone passes me a joint, I'll take a toke. I really don't have an issue with it beyond the fact that I never bothered to grow emotionaly, because with pot I didn't have to... I'm starting late, but better late than never. ;)
Legalization is another issue entirely and has only to do with the fact that I believe that a person has the right to do what they will with their own temple/body, without government involvement. (no I do not believe that this carries onto children in any way shape or form. Children to not have the same rights as an adult. PERIOD)
anyway.. now I'm just ranting again.. :)
Glad to know that there are some others who are trying the sober road with me. It aint easy..

upua, legalisation will never happen, it can never happen, because if it becomes legal then companies can market it. It could be de-criminalised however, as it now is here in the UK, we can now smoke it in our own homes and in some pubs and stuff, but we get in confiscated if we skin up on a bus. Or smoke it in public places.
RenaissanceGirl
May 9th, 2002, 10:56 AM
So what if companies market it? In my opinion, decriminalization is the most important effect to legalization. Instead of selling crack from their homes, would-be criminals are going to work and selling drugs like businessmen and away from their home and children. People can go to bars or other establishment, again away from their home and children. And you are definitely right upu - education is a big anti-drug. Today kids are taught to stay away from drugs and drugs will kill you period. And so what happens when they find out they won't die from smoking a joint now and then. What happens when they find out that cigarettes are more harmful than marijuana. They certainly won't believe anything you say after that. They are more likely to question you when you say GHB increases your chances of dying to 50% - they won't have any perception about the true effects of certain drugs.
It might never happen because the very people who are running this country don't want it legalized - especially the tobacco industry. If people start spending their money on bongs and pipes on top of drugs they will a) have no money to spend on the most popular goods today and b) gain a sense of gratification that doesn't need to be fulfilled by purchasing useless goods.
This is most random forum. I'm done with drugs and smoking and quit easily and successfully - but I really can't turn down three things if my life depended on it: 1) candy, 2) coffee and 3) a drink.
Yup - Alanis rocks. "Ironic," ironically isn't ironic but is actually just really bad luck, IMO. Did that make any sense? I like "Hand in my Pocket" - it's like the duality of one's nature and/or situations, but it's all good, y'know? Shutting up now.

She just doesn't do it for me. I have a thing against famous people, I don't find any of them attractive. Yes some of them are gorgeus, but I don't obsess like most of my friends do. My friend that is going to be living with me next year here at school has a shrine to Britney...a whole bunch of magazine cut-outs taped up on the back of his closet door. That just scares me...He's probly one of those people that made "Britney Spears Nude Pics" become a top search engine topic...
As far as drugs go, I prefer to stay out of any conversation. Mainly because I lack experience in most areas. I did take acid onces on accident. I was in the bathroom at school and my friend came in and goes "Here, put this on your tongue." I am a skater, and most of my skater friends smoke (A lot!). They claim that it makes them skate better, but actually they are doing worse, they just think everything is "AWESOME!!" But, I have no desire to do any drugs, and I probably never will. I have come to terms with my reality and I find that I like my life and wouldn't want to alter my sense of self for anything...
But as far as the health concerns you are right...I supposed its the same thing that goes on as with LA's communism...:)

It wont ever get legalised.
I smoke it on social occasions... which happens to be most weekends, but it is medically proven that it does no harm, only the fact you smoke it, if you do something imaginative with it, like make cakes... cakes are fun :D ... then you get some of the effects and no harmful side effects...
anyway, what was this thread about again? I think we got distracted...
ah yes, newbie weiners posting the same post 20 bajilion times and then posting a new thread saying "OI ANSWER ME IGNORANT SOB's" or the like... yeah, they suck, but its a fact of life, everyone starts somewhere and some newbies are stupider than others...

RenniGirl- MY friends are diputs. They are stupid stoners that took up skateboarding and they think that they skate better when they are high. Granted one of them actually does do better when he is stoned but thats because he is too tense when he is sober and smoking relaxes him and then he does some crazy sh!t, but the others, they just fall around a lot and think its awesome. I fall all the time without the influence of drugs and they don't give me any recognition!
And yes, nice funbags, but i would prefer a natural B to a fake D. Actually I prefer a B anyway, regardless. I'm more of a legs/eyes man myself...And Britneys latest commercials really really irritate me. I have to turn the TV off because my controller has no MUTE button.

legalisation, de-criminalised, who cares as long as I can get a pair of hemp jeans. :)
as for smoking and performance.. it really depends upon how much you smoke, and what you smoke. A little pot can do a lot to realax and instill a creative thought line.. it does, as was stated, hamper motor skills though.. so it's a trade off. I can see it helping some, and hindering others.
btw.. I can tell you right now that if anyone EVER slipped me acid without telling me what it was, they would be in a lot of pain right now. That is not a friend. That is a @#%$ up @#%$.. period. Acid is a serious drug that alters rational thought, and changes perception.. add to that, that it lasts on average 8 hours... well that's just a @#%$ up thing to do. I would not be friends with anyone after they did that. No matter what their excuse was.
RenaissanceGirl

Not to mention that acid is in your body forever! Years from now, if you decided you wanted to be an FBI agent, they could tap your spine and find out that acid was in your body. That sucks.
Now, I wouldn't say acid was totally bad. Like a lot of things, acid's effects last depending on the user. I've had friends you must have down so much acids, but they're doing ok in their professional and personal lives.

Anywho...in GTA3 my 6 year old nephew just ran around beating people up. Its violent for a 6 year old, but he deals with his mother's boyfriend so I don't know how much worse that game is than real life. Its funny, all my sisters have a thing for dating, or marrying abusive guys. One sister was in a relationship for 9 years and the guy put her in the hospital 4 or 5 times. My father has a baseball bat with his name on it if he ever sees him again.

Life is violent, its kind of a fact.
But I think guys hitting girls goes a little bit too far, one of my friends got hit by her boyfriend a while back, so me and my friends put him straigt, were down the police station over night after it, but it was worth it, no criminal record still *proud* :D
As for smoking pot and skating, I dunno, cant see how it would help. Smoking pot and relaxing... hell yes :)
