I used to get excited about these things, but after hearing about this stuff for the last 2+ years... :bored:

I would've thought by now that there would've been something out by now at least in industrial/commercial form.

It's still pretty cool though. Cell phones, PDA's, we could stop chopping down trees for paper and pimp the next book in Minority Report fashion might still be worth the wait.

I bet it costs a fortune though. Either way, having a screen that can be just rolled up into a little tube is pretty cool. The applications for this are so vast it boggles my mind  I can't wait!

The difference is that this 'paper' doesnt require a consistent energy source to display itself. You set the image once and it stays, just like paint on a canvas.

However, as jasarius pointed out, this technology has been on the horizon for years. This is just another step to making it closer to reality as Fujitsu attempts to apply the technology in practical situations which should allow us to see it on the market soon (though still maybe years).

((Limited Markets + Marketability - COGS)^2 * Market Saturation Technique)
Number of Preferred Shares * Current Rate of Economies of scale = X

...carry the one...

X = One are, spleen and on top of that it's expensive...until it reaches a large production product (ie, mobile phones, textbooks of the future, home appliances, etc.)

Or Wal-Mart...prices are always falling there. :D

I think a couple of years ago the magazine Mac Format was talking about Apple exploring the possibility of using bendable electronic screens for future versions of Power Books. You'd have one for the display, and a touch screen one for the keyboard and mouse. The way they presented it was a bit impractacle, but it was a good example of how the technology could be used.
