Ok, so I've never ever pirated a game or movie. I've downloaded a song everyonce in a while for a flash movie but thats about it so I'm not sure what to do with .ISO's. My good friend sent me the Battlefield 2 demo in an ISO format... Why it was like this I don't know how to work it so I can play... if anyone can help me on this it would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

you have to get Alchol 120%. Or some other program to burn it to a disc. << your post will most likely be deleted.

An ISO is a disk image. You need a program to either simulate a disk drive, or youll have to get an ISO ripper or something like that. I use alcohol 120% and simulate a drive.

Nero does it as well.

Thanks man, but why will it get deleted? I thought the BF2 Demo was free...

WTF would he send you an ISO of an EXE file? Dev, there's something you're not telling us. ;)

Why would you bother having a friend send you an ISO file with BF2 in it, when you can just download it from fileplanet or 3dgamers.com at a MUCH faster rate?

Geez...can't a guy even ask a simple question like how to burn an iso without everybody jumping on his back for trying to pirate something???

Lots of legal stuff comes in iso form. I realize a lot of pirated software is downloaded in that format as well, but does that mean that we can't answer a person's question simply because the answer COULD help him pirate software? I've noticed this same type of thing happen in similar threads and it's always bothered me. Sometimes you can obviously tell a person is trying to rip off some software, and of course those threads should be shut down. But other times, the question seems innocent and reasonable.

That's just my two cents. I'll keep my mouth shut now :)

daemon tools work super good.
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/download.php

it's so simple to use :)

it creates virtual drives for your computer to mount iso's, best of all it's free :)

ya'll, layoff the dude. @ mods posted in here so you would think it is fine. I have received ISO's from clients and friends. So it is possible that he is telling the truth.

I use daemon tools http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/index.php You can mount the ISO directly to a virtual CD/DVD drive without having to burn it to a real disc.

Like DDD said, ISO is not synonymous with pirating. ISO is just a format for moving CD to an image file. I convert backups on my corportate server to ISO and then download them remotely and then burn them locally.

Dev.. yes there is nothing wrong with asking that question here. The thread could have been deleted IF it went in a different direction..

I Commend Disco-Stu. It is not about control people.. it's about legal safety. teet and others of the same opinion should keep it to themselves. Stu was looking out for our safety, plain and simple. You guys who want this sort of talk (when it could take place in someone elses forum just as easily) wish to endanger this community. I'm sure that you dont' think that this is what you're doing, but you are. Other's here have worked too hard to let something as stupid as hacker lingo, which doesn't even belong here, to take this board offline.

If you want to change policy, write a letter to kirupa. Otherwise, leave it out of these threads.
