Okay first off I am not going to even try to take credit for this great preloader. I got it from the Macromedia Developers site and its free there but I have been looking for one that had this much freedom and here it is.

When you open the '.fla' file you will see, in the library, a movie clip called progress_mc. The great thing about this preloader is that you can put whatever animation you want and it will play it as the preloader and it will slow it down as needed. It also playes the entire movie clip so you see it smoothly go all the way threw your animation.

Again i did not create this code here is a link to who did...write him and tell him how much you love him!

Ditto, what's it got that the other 20000 preloaders I see everyday don't have ?

The cool thing about this one that is different from the other preloaders i have found is that it never skips your animation. It is always smoothe and doesn't jump.

:) - I guess I like it a lot more than most people.

Does nothing my preloaders can't do... And they are rock solid themselves... If by rock solid you mean that "it works without flaws" :p

basically, i copied all the frames from the perloader.fla that's there and put it at the beginning of my movie and renamed the beginning of my actual content "START" and put the .as file in the same directory as my .fla and .swf but still it doesn't work...so what am i supposed to do...the guy who made this fla doesn't give any actual tutorial steps...so i don't know how to customize this and make it work for me.
help.

Yep, and the fact that it is smooth progression when you're on broadband....most preloaders skip and aren't lookin' smooth at all.
This is nothing special, just a very good example how a preloader can/should be build.

This is a very cool preloader. However, I've been trying to use it to load components. I've read over the other threads on exporting frame class and such....but, those don't seem to address using a preloader class. Do any of you know how to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

You don't have permission to access /kirupa/preloader/ on this server.
and the ones I saw in the macromedia site arent that great; but as you said, you might like it more than other people, I like purple, other people like orange... and so on
