desktop contest

I think a desktop contest would be cool. Theme would be the kirupa website. Then kirupa can make a page where people can download and use them. :thumb:

I like the idea man, but I don't like the theme, thats really limiting when it comes to desktops. A lot of the contests/battles around here have been about the "kirupa blueish/bubble" theme, it should be a free-theme contest.

Maybe kirupa.com text on it or whatnot, but not the full theme.

2 desktop submissions max, 1600.1200 sizes and lower, jpg/gif/png formats, 5mb max? Just throwing out some general ideas.

yeah thats what i mean reef. not the blueish theme but having kirupa text on it. dunno about requiring 1600 res, thats really big. Of course wait till the footer contest is finished. Dunno whats up with the fx contest right now, im not in it.

I meant 1600 x 1200 dimension and lower, of course 1024.768 and 800.600 is still in the group but I just thought a lot of people had big monitors, so we can't leave them out.

Fill me in if you get any more ideas and when it'll start.

do macs have different screen resolutions or something? I would say we get 2 or 3 gift certificates to like itunes or something as prizes. I can do up some guidelines real quick and Im not sure if we need permission to actually do the contest or not.

I think 5mb is plenty. Alot of photos that taken by digital cameras that are over 1600x1200 are about 1-2megs.

that's just silly. you can get high quality jpgs at desktop sizes easily under 500KB.

id say 1024x768 and up should be good?

Yeah well considering monitor res these days are made as 1024x768 and higher i'd says it sounds good.

I agree that should be a minimum, I use 1280x1024 and 1440x900 (widescreen laptop) so I'd say thats a good minimum though
