It's far from finished, but I'd just like to ask what you think of the general idea: should I go on with this or just throw it in the bin?
Constructive criticism needed!
Thanks.

It's not too bad, the color scheme needs work though, orang, purple and pink don't go well with each other. =)

lol, I hope your eyes don't hurt that much anymore....
Anyway, thanks for that link. Ic hanged the backgroundcolour a bit. It's still kind of bright, but I now used black scanlines (instead of orange ones which caused it to look purple).
I also decreased the orange box containing the flashmovie in size.
Hopefully it's an improvement...
Please let me know.

Try using more white, it's still a bit harsh on the eyes after staring at it awhile. Try using a white background instead of a blue one, white will also make it look cleaner as well.

that orange has to go... it just clashes.
You might want to do a search for a color wheel theory for combining colors. It really is a tool most designers use everytime they set up a new site.

Well, actually I did use the Color Schemer that Daveman suggested. So I took the orange I use in the flash movie and looked up the complementary color, which is in fact the blue I use in the background. I thought it was very bright so I used black scanlines to tone it down a bit in the center.
For this site I just wanted to use 2 really kind of fresh colors, instead of using different shades of 1 color, which is what I did in my html site (http://www.twc.sshunet.nl/~swmvanbo/MT/)
I thought it would make it more vivid...

Well, I wouldn't wear a shirt that color with a pair of jeans the color of your bg... But then again this is just my opinon.
Orange is tough. Even the SF Giants baseball team (black and orange) use orange only as an accent. It is just too ingrained into every one that orange = hazard/safety notice.

Ok, I tried something else with the colors. I only left the orange in the menu-items and made the background grey.
That probably won't cause any seizures anymore, although I think it maybe looks a bit dull....
