hello guys and gals,
after all the work iv done recently i need to make something, lets say, non-so-damn-contolled-by-the-client. in other words lets make a game ;)
i got an idea - to make kinda project free for anybody who likes to join. i want to make this from start to the end here and take this as high as possible.
let me know if youd like to participate on such thing and start giving suggestions on concept. hope this wasnt asked and denyed before, but the magic search button didnt find anything.

Yo
Anyone can say "Hey lets make a game". Its the Ideas you have for the game that sets you apart from the rest. So if you want to start this little party, you will either need a wicked idea, having some good coding skills to show, or be able to draw/animate well. Otherwise all you are bringing to the team is the idea of having and idea, which anyone can do.
Im not saying you cant do anything. Im just saying you havnt shown anything that says otherwise. Like I said once before, it's like going for a job interview without a resume.
Show some stuff and then people will get interested! :D

i can see waht you are saying Skribble. its a bit naive to come and say lets do something. i have some coding skills and experience but unfortunately in multimedia CD presentations or some intranet development that i cant show to you.
its that i didnt think about the general concept, story and so on. i tought it could be nice to get together with some suggestions a do something. and i belive that together we can end up with a stunning result.

yes, but before people can give ideas they need a basis to work off

ok, so it seems its my turn now. right now we have a blank piece of paper. what do we need at first... story or concept? it could be a clasic pixel style save the chick game or some logic game or maybe shooter, strategy, rpg, arcade or something new? work in 2D or to fake some 3D environment? need to know what would you like to work on and what should be good enough for you to join?
Eh?

Im willing to help. I am an intermediate flash AS programmer and vector artist (suck at animating though). Just looking for a little summer project.
Methinks we need an original concept thats addicting. Yet easy to get into and not too complex. I was thinking maybe an arcadish game with rpg elements in it (such as upgrades ect.). I think 2d would be easiest though ive always loved isometric view.
Trying to think of random ideas....... the problem is everything i think of turns into an elaborate 3D game

great you wanna participate. if it would be a 2D pixel thing i think Alex the Alegator (http://www.freelunchdesign.com/games.shtml) is an example.
here (http://www.mathew-er.wz.cz/3d%20menu2.swf) a i have an example of a fake 3d environment i made for a cd presentation. it has cutted off all graphics, video and photos and has some bugs, cause its only 2nd version out of 10 but you get the idea. it has a camera object and any other object with x,y,z properties and smooth camera movement. but when it gets too complex it consumes a lot of proccessor capacity.
btw. i am now mainly a programmer and 3d artist so i can help at these areas. maybe i could persuade a graphic here at melon so he could help with visuals.

no one likes a jerk.
If you had read the rest of the thread properly instead of jumping to conclusions, you would've realised that the issue had already been addressed and resolved. He has some interest in making a game, he's laid down some sort of structure and another person is interested; which means other people may be interested in the future.
Why come here just to make an unmindful comment about his inexperience with games? The point of this forum is to help people along with information. Not to scold them for posting ideas.
Be a little more caring okay? We dont all just jump into this industry and have instant knowledge of how things work.
If you have any other comments then PM me, dont pollute this thread with negative posts.

actualy, NiñoScript, i wanted to start a project here. evolve it here from the start to the end. thats the reason that the first idea was to have an idea =) idea what is the game going to be like, if it will be fps, rpg or whatever and so on. now im looking for people who have bit of time free to waste on this one.
when i can see that enough of people are interested, we can do some vote or something to decide which way to go. throw in some ideas and start working.

well, ok, how about a turn based 2d using bit-maps for speed fighting engine with lots of status, (like old games, example: agility, attack, anger, magic, defense, luck, magic defense, inteliggence, etc...) and that u can fight against lots of enemies, and, and, and...
get the idea¿?
ohh, and lets add php for saving our guys status and experience (just for making it harder)
:P
what do u say?
i'd really like to see something like that in flash, just like other people do in c++ and others :D

what about a puzzle game like dungeons of some zelda games, where u had lots of tools to make the scenario change and solve the VERY hard puzzles made by us?
and, is there any way to make games formore than one player??
:)
hooray!!
(but i need a more especific idea of what we're goin to do, so then i could give better ideas ;P)

ahh, finaly! i personaly like more the first idea. i dont have a background in those old-school games, because i never had any video games, consoles etc. only one we had was an old atari with olympic games and after i destroyed 4 joystiscs with my brother my parents denyed to by new ones so it was the end. oh and also a sokoban game on pc.
this, what you are talking about seems like a pixel-art based rpg game. we could use some of the printed rules from these dragon lair games or how is it named in the rest of the world =) maybe some clasic story like "save the chick", "revealing my past" or some of the "saving the world from -add here some superlatives- evil".

I think you need to make a 2d version of world of warcraft in flash. That would make me happy. :)
