Im not any where near ready to make this yet, but i came up with a VERY basic idea for a site.
Ive mocked up the base page and done it as my own but i may well use the idea for a clients site if it gets a good response.

Mainly i need to know if the way ive done it so it goes across the bottom is annoying or not ??
Bear in mind ive done this to be viewed on 1152 x 864 resolution monitor, higher res should be fine but maybe lower res or screen size makes it hard to see ??

Ive done it in frames to achieve the bottom alignment but i wonder if some one could point me in the direction of a CSS positioning tute which would do the same thing (bottom alignment)

Oh almost forgot the Link is HERE (http://www.mut8designs.com/Test/mut83testbFRAMES.htm)

Cheers for any comments :thumb:

Looks ok, but can't really get an exact response because it doesnt do anything, need to see either some content or some type of flash movement. Could be kewl...

To me, there's nothing to see. Just a oversized tab-like thingy.

1. get rid of the frames, don't use that if you want your site to be search engine friendly.
2. use CSS to absolutely position the lower navbar, also use html to proper resize it to get the desired effect. Navbar like that could go into 800 x 600 without problems.

on 1024x768 you have to scroll down to even see anything....

he said it was for a higher resolution monitor in first post Tock... but that still doesn't make it right.

the majority of people do not use resolutions that high so if you want them to see your portfolio its going to be a problem. right now i think the highest common res among the average person is 1024x768 (not accounting for different demographics such as age for those who do not know how to change their settings).

always design for the most common resolution if you want the biggest audience.

when i loaded it up all i saw was black, no tab, just black and thought the page was down untill i scrolled. at least put something to show there is content.

Wheres a good tute for absolute CSS positioning ?

Thanks for other comments, all taken on board

try asking ppl on irc server irc.efnet.net channel #css to help you out with links, they have quite some up their sleeves. Alternatively, you can always ask uncle google :)

Hmm have been thinking about it and that wouldnt work really as the movie is 650 pixels high and on lower res monitors there wouldnt be enough room.

So had a brain wave i shall position it at the top of the page and see how it looks there.
On a different subject whats are peoples views on full screen modes for websites as im considering this an option (id offer a normal link to but id like to try a full screen site as i havent done one before and i think i could get away with being overly flashy as its my own site)

I think with the web-savvy their fine. But amongst the great chattering classes they think it is a pop-up and get annoyed with it, they also dont like to lose their nav bar. Its like throwing a caveman into the information age, the dont like the change, even if you think it is better for them.
