i just thought of an idea
i think at the end of each month a new mod should be replaced by an old one. that will be decided by kirupains. we can do a poll 2 days before each month and that way this forum can have new and fresh mods with new ideas that can keep this forum realy active and reduce the amount of spams and problems.
that is my idea i dont know if u agree or not but i think it is a good one

Good idea, but not very practical. IMO it adds complication to a problem (spam) without really making any progress. The current mods do a fine job, and this being a forum, I say: if you have any new and fresh ideas there is nothing stoping you from posting them and trying to have people to act on them. Kirupa is always open to new ideas, viewpoints, etc. as well as all the mods... I doubt a voting system would help.

I disagree as well. The current system works well, and by the time the mod gets the hang of being a mod, he/she'll be replaced by someone else. We must always look at the worse case scenario that a mod that gets voted based on popularity may not be the best mod for the board. Becoming a mod is not a popularit contest ;)
Cheers!

first off, i found this hilarous- Disagree- 2147483641
next i disagree, because the mods that are active now are doing a good job, and if the poll decides some one, who knows what they would do to the fourms, such as delete things and ban people. that wouldnt be good.
edit- spelling:whistle:

I agree with Alex. The mods we have now are trustworthy.

Lost, can you tell me what happened to the poll? Why does it have crazy results?

Either a mod edited it (wohoo!!) or $*(# set it up initially with those results (wohoo!!) =)

Yeah, the disagree option was maxed out, so when people voted it threw everything out of "whack".

well you guys are right but that was my opinion
but when some mod gets bored from watching the forum all the time and editing it we will do a vote for the next mod. but your voting shouldn't be based on the popularity of the person it should be based on his posts and replies and his activity.
but u r right they mods are active and they are doing well

This idea could be used if an old mod wanted to leave. Though it might be better to do it however you do it now.

i dont want to sound stupid but i find this a good laugh. :beam:. It's just like making everybody a mod. When someone is voted to have mod priviliges for a month, who knows, they can screw up everything.

i ment that every month we do a new poll not the same mod goes out again. and that is why you should pick your ppl carefully. and a voted mod can be here for a year maybe if he was doing a good job

I strongly disagree with this. Some of Kirupa's current mods just amaze me with the time and effort they put into helping this site. All of them deserve an award. Although, Kirupa might be forced to get some new moderators soon if some of the old ones stop posting and others decide not to be mods. And in that case, I still disagree with the voting, Kirupa should always be allowed to elect who he wants to have moderator priveleges on his site.

plus there is a voting that mods only participate in when a new mod is needed...
