Hey guys,
I want everyone to vote on this battle. I'm sick of seeing 40 people vote for a big occasion, when theres 300 members online...

But here are the entries:

My vote was a tough choice. Every entry I saw here was above average, and they all ruled. Great job EVERYONE!!!
I personally voted for Vexir, because it was a great render, and brought back many memories of my mario days...

That was hard to choose between Vexir's and C130's robots.

voted for vexir because I liked the way how he took his concept from what mat be conceived as a typical character and came up with something pretty original.

Ditchhopper - I nearly voted for you because I felt that yours looked the best, like I said vexir just because it was different and looked good also :)

It's a really neat render Vex, although it still needs a lot of work, but congrats ;)

Hehehe yeah I know, I spent a lot of time on the eyes but I just couldnt get them to look right, but it turned out fine in the end, better than I expected. I was so hopelessly confused when I first opened Max, but I eventually got this after a good bit of tinkering :)

Ditch's model is by far the most detailed and professional ;)
The others are creative, but not so impressive, imho...

Ditch is awsome, I voted for him :)

Amazingly detailed to me.

I think I did okay for someone who is new to modeleing :)

Ditchhopper, cos it's a nice modelling, and a chick.

Other than that, I think they all lacked a tad of character, a nice pose.. But you'd need to rig everything to do that !

^Which is a complete b*tch

Hey thanks for the comments and the votes guys!

The rig was a pretty simple job actually. No skin modifiers! I just laid out and adjusted several point helpers for each joint in orthographic views, hid everything else, then snapped the bones to the helpers. (arms and legs were mirrored) Spent a couple hours customizing the wiring parameters then linked the chassis parts to their bones and the body parts to the chassis.

Not difficult at all. The wiring was the most time consuming part. Put about three hours into the complete rig.

Whats really nice is that when and if it comes time to animate this I dont need to mess around with a low poly version since I can just animate the low poly chassis and render out the body afterwards.

Aye, heres the rig:
