yo luni - I would love to do this again. All someone has to do is throw up the challenge. Feels good to get back into PS like this. I shortened the deadline time 2 weeks was very long so I set it for 2 days. But might even shorten that, seems like voting has tapered off and I am sure people want to know who did what and comment.

LoL... I actually think the voting is rather funny. You get these battles that have less than good entries in them... and they are gettin like 40-50 votes per poll... you get battles that have a good amount of good entries and no one votes. aaight ya'll I closed the poll due to voting has tapered off. I also revealed who did what. So now we can start the crits and comments. This was a good battle, shame we did not get a good voting turnout.

I will start off by saying I loved PR's (he got my vote). The mushrooms were awesome. The only thing was the subjects lacked depth, but it was a great entry.

i liked them all really,

1: for its night time lake look and green worked well with it, there not really a odd factor other than the colour, which i guess works but not as much as the other entries

2: mushrooms are killa here, i agree with ddd lacks some depth, and the house could use some work to fit in the scene a little better, other than that i like it

3: Pretty cool , even though its a mass destruction of the scene , looks alright, the fire on the grass looks pretty nice

4: well this is my entry, its a shame i didnt realise i could use another pics but yeah everything in there is from the same image, and the grass, and sky and trees behind the house are created from stratch, oh and the house was suppose to be floating on water, lol.... was going for a dark strange mood.

5: pretty tight mod, dog needed to be removed or better blended, the animal to the right i think was too much and you can see the grass/ground on its feet, there were alot of nice ideas here just some better implementation and would of looked alot better.

This is a nice one DDD although not finished the texture on the rock is killa and when i realised that it was created from scratch it is even better, I think the background could of used some more cosmic elements (shooting stars?, comets?) and the house some shading or sharpening. Other than that a nice scene.

7: Bah Hi res images!!! nah i wont be a playa hater, good job simp, the sky, rocks and house all blended very well from your nice shading/ lighting work, love the reflection, and a nice "odd" touch with the hat (or whatever it was, lol)..

Thanks guys - I didn't go into as much detail as I wanted - I just spent a couple of hours on it cause of work and another project i'm on. The house and then the transistion from grass to leaves needed a lot of work and also the rock to grass. The highlight of the work was the grass for me, I really enjoyed that - it was hand duplicated and then hand shaded with the dodge and burn tool. I did give the whole picture a couple of lighting effects but the main work with the grass was me and a lot of patience.

The red dog threw everything off, I added him in at the last minute and it ended up detracting and setting an odd vocal point. The house as well was a bit rough with its foundation...that house's structural foundation was whack I mean - and i found it hard to blend properly...i also spent too much time on the grass LOL.

i liked all of the entries, the crane in the lake made me laugh lol, and versus' pulled off a really green creepy feel as did soulty with his blue swamp b-movie thriller take.

The molten lava in DDD's really was impressive although I wish you had spent more time blending in the rock into the background and shaded it a little differently.

Simp's was very nice - I always enjoy his take on blue. My only thing was it looked a little too "battle-y" for my tastes :P I did enjoy the lighting especially how he made that front porch light spill onto the rocks in the front yard, other than that I wish he had extended it a bit further.

The flame one had some good coloring on the bottom portions of the yard, but the overall flames took away from the picture, it looked like a glob of mayo put on the house only it was flames - but i really did like the coloring on the front yard.

good battle - we should defintely go again with just a little bit more time...

i say this and only spent 2.5 hours on mine lol - but with work and stuff haha

I definitely would have voted for the one with the backhoe or whatever coming out of the water. It looked the most realistic compared to the rest(yet still fulfilled the theme).

I wish I had time to do my idea, I think it would have been quite different from everything else, oh well.

The reason the ipod poll has so many votes is because it's a multiple choice poll, where you can vote for as many things as you want.... so it's probably the same number of people voting. Also, when there's more entries in a contest, chances are there will be more votes in a contest, as people will link to it in their footers etc. And a lot of people don't visit the battle forum every day, that's why we usually keep polls open for two weeks, it ensures that everyone gets their votes in.

#1. Eh... didn't really care for it. I mean it's ok in it's simplicity, but it's to simple. I think one of the things that was lost in this battle was photorealism side of the rules.

#2. Was the one I picked. When I saw it the grass really got me... that's some good stamping and duplicating there :). But when I looked at it the house, the cows, and the rock on the right hand side weren't blended in that well, but I did really enjoy the concept and the composition.

#3. LoL... well... like I said b4... funny... but too odd.

#4. Well soulty put his name on this... dumby head! But aside from that I thought the grass brush was used to much, although blended well, and a lot of image degridation. Sucks that he didn't know he could use other images :lol: cause I think he would've done a much better job. He was goin for a spooky look I assume, and I think the feel and the concept is there. But not having other images killed it.

#5. Meh... the fake rain killed me. I thought the concept is good... makin more white trashy is always fun, I just thought the execution wasn't as good.

#6. Well... I like the molten part, the rest of it looked like it was rushed... such as the rock which I noticed the blur on the edges right away, and I think the space scene is just a little too bland.

In response to some of the comments, about mine. I dunno how it looked "battle-y" although I do sorta think it looks Bryce-ish :lol:. But I love adjusting lighting in images to make them look like they belong... that's what I do all day long at work, I could've added more but then it would've been way to complicated and involved and I didn't really want to put more than 4hrs into the battle :lol: I think I ended up putting 5 or 6 into it actually, due to my own stupidity. I just couldnt think of anything to do with it (once again). I had a bunch of ideas but never got around to it. I guess I'm not as creative as I thought. Photomanipulation always seemed fun to me, and I looked at the link you posted simp, I think I had 3 of those images saved in for my battle, except the image was gonna be different (of course).

Then came sunday, and I said, forget it I don't feel like PSing something that's gonna come out sh*tty. Yea I'm not good at this manip thing, I thought it would be much easier (it probably is), until I open up PS and stare dead at it :lol:. You guys stick to that and keep doing cool stuff like that. PRStudio had the best in my opinion, it was probably one of the few that actually had oddity in it. Mushrooms is a killer idea...only if I thought about it first lol. I'm TERRIBLE at working with something given to me, and you guys pulled some good stuff off it, so props to that. Maybe some other time I'll hand in something.

Why does it seem when I am involved in a battle things get wicked and all crazy. Its just a battle between what is supposed to be friends (well basically). I am confident in my abilities and everyone else should be. I would think these are good learning opportunities as well. A time to ask someone how they did something. I know my entry is not the bomb but if anyone wants to know how I did something just holla.

Anyway back to the battle, the next one I wont end prematurely, sorry folks but we have almost 400 views and 15 votes so I figured it would be better to just let everyone know who did what. aaaight had a lil PM discussion with a person who thinks I broke the rules on my image because I hand painted my image for the most part. And they feel all I did was cut out and clone the image. While I did do that, I thought it was well within the rules to matte paint or whatever. SO even tho I did not win I apologize if anyone thinks I was outside the contest rule. But in my defense it was rather difficult to get that lava and the rock texture right :angry:

Hmm... well I think that person is being, for lack of a better word, stupid. A photomanipulation doesn't by anymeans limit you to not airbrushing. All the light adjustments on my image are airbrushed, as well as a few rock fills and patterns. So that person needs to really figure out what is included in a photomanipulation cause that's just dumb. When you manipulate something it's within reason to use whatever mean neccessary to accomplish your goal. In this case it was manipulating the base image... which we can all clearly see is there. Whatever else was done to complete your scene is irrelivant. Just too many haters and posers.

DDD that image was great, I doubt the space dust in the back would've looked as great if you hadn't airbrushed your way through it. I couldn't even tell you airbrushed.

They are hatin on DDD for airbrushing it to make it look as realistic as he could, and they are posers because they are acting like they are designers that know something, and have the dauntlessness to tell someone like DDD who is a great and proven designer that what he did was wrong is just plain we-todd-did. Now of course I have no clue who PMd him but I'd just assume that if it was someone who knew about photomanips that they wouldn't have had any issues w/ it. And if he hadn't said anything the guy or girl wouldn't have said... hey... that looks airbrushed/painted... you cheated.
