View Full Version : Best Footer Image Contest

Hello Everyone!
Since flash footers are disabled for a while, I thought it would be a good opportunity to start a contest in search for The Best Footer Image. :thumb: The winner will get a 20 dollar gift certificate from Threadless.com directly from me. Wait... what? Kirupa is offering a prize as well? That's right ladies and gentlemen: the top 2 entries will receive a 20 dollar gift certificate from Threadless.com.
Here are the guidelines:
This is a quick contest - get your submissions in before July 8th!
Your submission should be a jpg, gif or png. No animated gifs.
No objectionable content, please. Think of the children.
The dimensions of your footer must be 300x40.
Your image must not exceed the 15Kb established in the forum guidelines.
Only two entries per person, otherwise it gets complicated.
You can keep updating your 2 submissions until the deadline.
How to submit
Make a thread with your name on it, and attach your images there. The purpose of attaching it is so that this can be saved for our grandchildren to see. There is no problem with artificially bumping your thread when you update your entries.
The top 10 footers will be selected by a round of experts, and we will select the winner through a kirupa-wide poll sometime after the deadline. The objective of this contest is the same as any other Kirupa contest: to have fun! So get cracking!
Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------------
Q: How come it's 300x40? The forum guidelines say 300x60.
A: Yeah, I decided to throw a twist into it :). If you want a sense of what that looks like, just look at my footer below. Think of this as the haiku of footers. :thumb:

May the size be 300x60 as well ? Cause that's the footer guideline and I think most people have made it that size.

Is there any particular theme to this :)? I'm a little confused, you're offering 20 bucks on threadless.com, but then you say kirupa is offering the same thing for 2 people? Whats the point?

Both raf and I are each providing a $20 gift certificate for threadless.com :)
Regarding the height requirement, I'm only guessing it is so that most of us won't submit what we already have created. I could be wrong though.
reefster - not sure there is a theme for it; just go nuts!

Alright cool - and anyways I've worked around the 40 pixel height requirement, it's not so bad :). I just wish the size could be upped to 20kb, it's limiting as it is..

my user name is "nishant", i had created thread and it showed thread created by "nishant" so my entry is right, n wht to do for 2nd submission of footer ?
I think it might be a good idea to put both of your entries on the same post. That way it's easier for us to keep track of them :)

Those have already been done and rather boring I'd say unless the theme was interacting with the user, which has also probably been done. Actionscript is cool to see, but it gets old. The point of this battle is that due to recent events with the no flash footers rule, people need to test their ability to create footers without flash, and still make them look as good.
I guess it's worth it?

I think the height restriction is an awesome idea. A little out of the ordinary never hurt anyone. And about filesize issues, just save as a png. My current footer as a jpg was 35kb (got the footer does not adhere to guidelines and everything!) but i saved it as a png.. and bingo bango, 4kb

And less bulky. It let's us do more reading on the forum than getting distracted.
