OK, I've got a domain name that needs filling and I've just started out on the layout.

Check out www.smelltheglove.net/cp (http://www.smelltheglove.net/cp)

The site's temporarily hosted there and you can click on the "TV & Movies" section but nothing else really.

Anyways, if you can find the time, I'd appreciate your feedback and what you think it could do with(out) instead of me doing the whole thing and it turning out to be cr@p!

EDIT: Check out www.smelltheglove.net/cp/v2 for a version where I've fixed some things the replies below suggested and let me know which you think is better? Thanks again.

That's insane! I'm thinking though that if I didn't want it to mess up on insane resolutions like yours, I'd probably have to create a totally separate site and redirect you which would be such a pain.

Or is there another way to go about it?

Probably embed it, and double check the font size isnt too small. And my display isn't THAT insane, 1600x_______ is insane.

yeah text small over here too, not like you need to conserve space anyway :thumb:

I think it's cool right now, but a few things that you don't have to listen to:

1) maybe introduce another color? like a lime green?
2) I don't love how on rollOut the button bounces up again before going down
3) three circle logo spins kinda fast, too distracting

Nice though,

BTW, have you been catching the new Family Guys over there?

BTW, have you been catching the new Family Guys over there?Hell yeah! They're not on TV though. I'm sorry to say that I'm very impatient and have been downloading them. I'm DEFINATELY buying the DVD when it comes out here though just to support the cause and make sure the show doesn't get cancelled again.

The most recent episode was amazing. Peter locking the keys out of his car was great and "OK, nobody shoot at Lois---she's scared" was hilarious.

Also, it's strange how the text in the navigation items at the bottom on your screen look fine but the main content text is so small--they're the same fonts and the same size!

It's a pixel font y'see and, because you have to use sizes divisible by 8, I always go with 8 as 16 is just too big for me.

cool site, def make font bigger and change the horrid times to something else. I think the CRYSTAL PLANETS text should be in a dif font, this one's a bit hard to read. yeah, and i agree with chimp-add another colour, like an orange or something.

You're probably seeing Times because he hasn't embedded the font.

How to embed

If your textbox is dynamic, click the Character button on the right hand side of the Properties panel, and select "ranges" or something, i'm doing this from memory. Choose the character sets that will apply to that textbox.
However, if your textbox is static, flash automatically embeds your text, and if thats the case, i don't know how to cure your problem.

Does anyone find this version better on your monitors?

www.smelltheglove.net/cp/v2

Also, do you think it looks better like that? I've stopped using pixel fonts.

OK, I've added another colour, can you check it out at www.smelltheglove.net/cp and let me know what you think? Cheers...

I dont know about the green. Green really doesnt mesh (in this case) with the yellow and blue, which, coincidentally, if you mix together you get green. But anyways, I liked the dark blue way more.

you still need to embed the title font on the "TV & Movies" page, the text that you have in turquoise (dont know how to spell that), embed that font. I like it.

kinda looks like a simplistic motiongerm.com.

LoL... yea if you're talkin about usin blue... that's about it.

Meh... the site I think the font on the side could be improved... looks like it's forced there. The gradient blending into the bg doesn't really seem to serve any purpose IMO... it's just there and holds no value. If you're trying to make it look like it's extruding out you need to add slight drop shadows to the top and bottom.

The spinning logo is horribly distracting, and annoying.

The section tweening is ok... if it had some more elasticity to it, it'd improve it.

The blue is sexy :)

there needs to be a sticky that tells people they do not have to exclusively use flash for every part of a flash site. make some of your nav in PS, add a nice touch to it. you dont have to use the flash vector for everything.

i personally think that the flash gradient looks wierd no matter which way you alter it, something just doesn't look right about it.

i meant the colour yes, but the gradient usage as well, which to be fair is most of the site.

To be honest, I don't like at all, especially when I compare it to your current website. I mean, the functionality is sligthly improved on this one - at least when the buttons get to work. But the whole theme is just soo much better on your old site. Maybe it's just me, but the colours doesn't go together and the gradint is used in an inappropiate way.

Why do those three circles need to spin? - I found that rather unecessary and it draws the attention away from the real content. And now that I'm mentioning contet, the "Latest news" loads rather slow, don't know why, all the other content is loaded in a split second, but it take a while before the "Latest news" text appears.

The "TV & MOVIES" section, is better that the frontpage, but I don't think the yellow rollOver looks good.

Overall I just don't think the colour complement each other, and it's okay to have some kind of a play between colours, don't get me wrong there, but it can easily become too much.

The headers in "TV & MOVIES" are very small, but all the other text is very readable

Okay, this might not have been one of my most political correct post, but it is my thoughts, hope you find it useful :)
