Voted for UNFLUX. the colours are great. the photo is nice anc sharp and complete. Nice composition.
I did doubt to vote on the one of Benkobe, but it seems photoshopped...

Ok .. to me the 4 photos that stood out as answering the brief the best belonged to Prettyboy, Unflux, Yeldarb and Renegade7. The others seemed either STILL beautiful (grinch and B3NKobe) or just not as strong as the ones mentioned. Perhaps those i mentioned as not answering the brief just went over my head. If that was the case then i apologise, but the fact that they dont immediately appeal to the majority makes them weaker in a voting situation. Having said that theyre all still great photos in their own right, so well done everyone :D

I was thinking of entering this battle and the ones i shortlisted matched up to ideas similar to what i had. Prettyboy and Yeldarb have gone for designs that have both physically aged and dated, while the others used living things as subjects that have both seen better days.

Since this is a design forum i think my pick has to come from Prettyboys building and Yeldarbs stereo. The reason being that on this forum i think its important to stress how that although a design can be fantastic, it will go out of fashion, and styles and trends are constantly changing in our business. Its a good reminder to all of us to try and push forwards and try new stuff in our work, whilst appreciating and getting inspiration from former beauty.

My winner is for me is the better photograph. The composition hints at some detail of the design and the techniques used also add to the feel of the 'Once was beautiful' theme. Hehe, i love being vague. Can you guess yet?

I think because the design of the subject of the photograph was what i grew you with in my formation design years, that also pushes my choice in a particular direction, nothing beats a bit of nostalgia. Well done Yeldarb.

Yeah I went with unflux because of the colours, they were just nice and rich. It was as if the photo was saying "once was beautiful... but it's still actually beautiful".

Unflux's photo is great. If the background was even more beautiful, with the wind blowing over the grass in just the right way (to me the nearground field looks a bit unkempt), with some perfectly formed trees in the distance to contrast the rotten stump itd be a killer entry.

Yeah I'd love to enter a photography battle. The problem is that it's really too hard to say which picture is actually better. All of the entries in this photo battle(for example) have their own style and own interpretations of the theme. When a battle is as close as 1 or 2 votes, who is to say that the winner is really the winner. If that poll had been visited by a couple more people with slightly different tastes, another person would have won. It's tough.

That's not a "problem." The battles are more meant to spark community interaction and provoke people to get off of their arses and go take some pictures. It's more of a showcase than an actual competition I'd say. I love seeing what other people come up with for the same theme, and I love taking pictures. Unfortunately I don't go out and do it enough. :P

Well exactly, that's what I mean... it would be better if there was no competition at all... just a theme and a time limit for a gallery, but then people wouldn't be as motivated: that's the problem I was talking about.

Does anyone own this little piece of creativity (http://www.lomography.com/supersampler)? It may be a good idea for new battle- Your best Supersampler Lomography picture!

If not, action pictures would be great!

Btw: nobody has so far answered my question about the SuperSampler.
