They do look better on a dark background - and if your using IE then you'll see no transparency (an ewwy grey bg)
It uses sevenet 7 as the font but you can always change it.
tell me what you guys think?

i like the sevenet 7 font, can i ask where you got it?

i like the purple one, i could imagine it to look very good on a dark bacground.

maybe i will have to make myself an avatar and footer soon.

but png??? big files. is this because you are joined to many forums???

png-24 is the only format that supports alpha transparency meaning pixels can be partially transparent (0-100%)
gif can support regular transparency - which is CRAP
regular transparency means a pixel in the gif image can either be blank(transparent) or filled in with an absolute color
that's why png is the format used when saving these avatars
size isn't that big anyways

true, png is the only format so far that can do that BUT it is not supported on all browsers so that limits its usability. only for sure application for all platforms is for use in flash.

flash supports png transparency....nomatter what browser you use. flash is a plugin - that runs within its own window.

yep... you just repeated what i wrote. "the only application for all platforms is flash."

were you trying to refute or did we have a miscommunication

aye - i misread. i thought you meant anything that isn't compatible with all platforms shouldn't be used in flash.
