Hey guys,
While working on a model in Maya today, I noticed that for some important functions, there were no hotkeys, and I hate using the mouse... Is there anyway to add hotkey combinations to certain functions (Ex. View>Look at Selection).
Thanks

yeah its quite simple as well. you can actually create what maya calls "shelf" items.
Its basically copy and pasting a mel code from the actions you just did, i think i have a nice link somewhere showing you how to create them..one sec.
Edit: ok this is not the link i wanted but it will do..
check this link:

then this one to create custom ones:

::edit::
hahah, i didnt even notice the top links were for maya 2 ! lol still they use the same method to create them, in any case here is another link to a newer version of maya.

edit: edit: edit:
you need to sign up for this (free to do so) but this site has many many many free videos for maya basics and even some more advanced stuff, anyway the link below is to custom ui shelf elements, check it out

Shift click items so they pop up in your shelf, use 'G' to repeat the last command, use the spacebar for super quick menus (quite puzzling at the beginning but speeds up your workflow greatly), or yeah, Drag and Drop mel code to the shelf, and attach a hotkey to it...
