here is a poster i'm doing for our company. It's almost done, still need to add the text on the bottom so it gives it a movie poster type look; let me know what you think:

Very nice :)
I think the light should be blurred more on the edges, as now they're quite rough.

The top title is completely invisible. Edges of the stream should be soften. Radio Network in the stream in unreadable. Letters in the bottom text " Blah blah presents" are too close to each other (stuck). The whole poster is boring, dark and dull. Don't like it. :smirk:

tommy - it's a wip; there is no stream it's just the logo egraved into the earth, Radio Network will be readible enough plus when this is printed at actual size 27"x40", everything will be fine. Letters are too close ? look at any other movie poster they are all narrow and close to each other. Fine if you don't like it, majority i show it to does :)

top title I need to make bigger. Should I do all the text in illustrator instead of PS ?

I like it!
A couple of suggestions:
How about just putting the microphone-looking thing (the "i" in WIZ) on the Earth instead of the entire radio station name? Kinda like the Batman spotlight.
I think "city's" should be broken up into its 2 proper words: "city is"
sounds a little more formal that way.
Oh yeah, and make the text up top more visible.

Well, if you know better, then, what's the reason in our critique?

Theres a difference between liking something, and having it serve good purpose as far as design does. I agree with Tommy. But the potential is there, keep at it dude.

The stars look very nice:)
However theres a few things you should think of changing...
The stroke on the text 'your city is next' is too heavy, maybe set it to overlay or something, aslo the font is a bit 'meh'.
The color fade on the planet is too sudden, makes the planet look 2d. Make it a gradual fade from the center towards the edges.

Lookin' good.
I still think the spotlight should only be the mic, though. As it is now you have the entire radio station name on the poster twice. Overkill I think.
Good work though. Keep it up!

here is another one, i might get rid the logo on the bottom or make it a lot smaller:

I can't find a good 300dpi large image of a communication satellite. The current one is a rendering and doesn't look realisitc :(

The "Your city is next" text in the third one is now even harder to read. I would also lighten the satelite to make it more visible.

what size are your images because 27x40 is a damn big poster and you must have some rediculous size images to make a poster that large.
PS. for what you're doing i dont think you could easily do it in AI. If you had vector work, illustrator would be useful or lots of text, but since you have a lot of blending you would pretty much just be pasting a giant image of your poster into AI.
Also, i liked the white beam better than the red, but i like the overall composition of the 3rd version with the positioning on the earth.

the font isn't good imo. But a nice poster if you improve on some of the details ..
It's not really my style but you've got skills.

i think this is it. What do you think ? the final poster size is 22" x 34". Still need to find a good hi resolution image of a communications satellite:

I think it looks cool, but fails as an ad poster. While the images are kinda impacting, the actual info - which is the entire point of any poster - is pretty non-descript. I think you've got a great base for a solid poster, just needs some developement.
I'm curious... how large is your PS file for that?! If that needs to blow up to the dimensions your talking about at standard printing of 300dpi, it must be dam*n huge... or you'll have trouble blowing it up.
Peace

on the latest link you posted, remove the drop shadow from the logo and the inner shadow from the crater - also on the bottom left of the crater trim that red burn up a little to more match the burn at the bottom right.
make the "Your city is next" about 17-20% larger
also at the bottom the logo should be under "I heard it media group presents"
however there are still two logos right on top of each other which is not good, you could try just shrinking the logo, but then you can't read it - its like "presents what? a tiny logo?"
might just want to put Wiz Radio Network in words under the "presents" phrase -
to be honest the more i look at it - the more id like to see this:
at the top right:
I heard it media group presents (small letters but still easy to see - should not overpower logo and the "your city is next." should be way bigger than this line
LARGE WIZ LOGO
Your city is next.
then on the earth - you could take the light beam out completely or leave it in - but then on the surface of the earth just have a shadow of the microphone from the logo -
as if this large orbiting microphone ship is nearing the earth and eclipsing it with its shadow - "looming - inevitable - you're next" are thoughts that cross my mind when i imagine this imagery.
give that a whirl -
and then at the very bottom of the poster have some small print information - or just leave it empty.

I like the progression this one has made. The font on "Your city is next" is much better, and while I didn't like the whole logo sitting on Earth on the earlier versions, it seems to work for me now.
Good work!
