Hey guys.
This is my first post on Kirupa, though i've been browsing for a pretty good while now.
Anyway, let's cut to the chase.
I made a little widget for practice with coded physics (I do waaaay too many of these things) that I deemed worthy to show you guys.
Move the top of the rope with the arrow keys.
Tell me what you think. If anyone wants the source, I can post that too. Maybe even explain it a little.
Note that though it may not seem like much, this is a lot more complex than it seems.
Peace.

In the Source/Experiment section you're supposed to post the source file ;) Otherwise it goes in Showcase/Critiques.
That's really cool though, I like it.

This forum is intended to showcase cool Flash experiments. There are only two guidelines:
1. You must attach/link to the FLA.
That is a pretty neat experiment :)

All I see is a black line in the middle of nothing :S.

Try clicking on it and moving the arrow keys like he suggested.

Very cool! I'd like to see what it's like when the anchor point is mouse controlled(the computer I'm on at the moment doesn't have flash so I can't do it myself).
Also, I was talking to someone recently and he was saying it would be really neat if someone could figure out how to simulate what happens when a rope/string relaxes... ex: When you pull a rope tight, and then let go, it springs up a bit and twists and curls up. Try it and you'll see what I mean.

Yes, that's a really neat idea, I'll probably get to that sooner or later. Also, regarding the mouse control idea, that's actually how I built it initially, but the string would get longer than it was supposed to for a little bit when you moved it too fast. I decided that using the arrow keys made it a little more controlled. If you guys really wanted to, though, you could do it yourself-it would be really easy to change.
I also wanted to try to make it so you can cut the rope by clicking on it-because of the way I built this thing, I think that this would be an easy accomplishment. I'll probably update the file in a few minutes or so.

Hi this is really cool.
is it difficult, to set two draggable ellements, lets say two circles one at the end and one at the startpoint of the Line ??
