View Full Version : Photoshop Resize Question

Since Macromedia is now an Adobe susidary (or what have you not), I've decided to use Photoshop a lot more instead of using Fireworks.

Now I'm not a graphics designer by any means, but I can do some basics with FW at least, but I want to go ahead an take that next step.

Question: In FW (or in Flash), there is a small box in the lower left hand corner that you can use to modify the actual pixed size and "X,Y" location of an object (box, circle, etc), where is that in Photoshop?

I'm drawing a site layout similar to how you would in FW, but when I want to resize some items, I have to use the resize tool and it's a pain for me right now because it doesn't always get to the right size immediately.

I see the Navigator box, but I can't input anything into it.

Did that any sense? I hope so.

Thanks for your help.

I assume you're on a PC so select your object/layer press CTRL + T and the transformation pallette will show up.

Oops! Yeah, I'm poor, I'm rockin' the PC.

Hey thanks! I appreciate that.

There are so many options with Photoshop. Looks like I have a pretty steep learning curve ahead of me.

Yet it is a powerful tool, when used properly. :) Hopefully you'll have as much fun learning how to use it as I did.

I hope so. So far I've been able to play with the filters on exisiting pictures, but there is so much, it's all a bit overwhelming.

Any good books that anyone could suggest?

I just want to focus on web design right now since Fireworks may get a gobbled up by its larger cousin.

Thanks.

dude you can always use all apps available you'll always have more interesting point of view if you know other apps...

I wouldn't recommend any books but just browsing the net for tuts (this one is my personnal favorite: http://www.heathrowe.com/tutorials.asp )

learn how to use tools before using filters (and don't get caught up in the 'wow nice lens flare' mode) like using blending modes, lasso tools, transform tools, paintbrushes, masks etc...

Funny you say that...because that's exactly where I'm at!

I'm filter and gaussian blur are my friends!

I did some pics and I'm so proud of myself, but they all look the same ow that you bring that up! lol

Chech 'em out here (http://www.flashbacksdanceclub.com/fb_fullgallery_05.swf). Go to second page and then "Webart."
