I'm trying to do a album promotion poster. I would like to use grunge text. I would like to know how to create unique grunge fonts. I've pasted some examples. Give me a shout out on some tips. Thanks.

you talking about makin a font from scratch or altering a font so that it looks grunge?

Just get a font and make holes in it... isn't that how its done?

you dont need to make a new font. if you're doing low quantity variations then just manually distress the text. all of those look like they were done by doing transfers on different textures.

the below example was done using white paint on a standard piece of printer paper. i used a sponge, a brush and the lid to a water bottle for the track pattern.

print text
get materials
pattern with white paint
smear a little
let dry and scan @ 800 dpi (my original was for a 16x20 poster so i needed a high res)
adjust contrast to fit needs
overall time was about 20 min including drying

thats cute but most brushes are designed for display on screens and distort when you do large print work (i've tried). like i mentioned in my post it was for a 16"x20" poster and i didn't have any brushes that were clean when at 2500 px diameter.

this guy asked about poster text

word to yuh mutha
