Hi,
I've just added a tutorials section to my company website - www.macro-design.org/tutorials (http://www.macro-design.org/tutorials)
It's still beta, and I haven't read the text though for gramma or any kind of text errors. And at the moment there's only one tutorial, but more to come within the next few days.
The website is at the moment only suitable for 1024x768 or under, which would mean 800x600.
Please let me know what you think :)

Yeah, I know, the text is a problem, I just can't find a suitable text, that doesn't turn blurred. I think I'm going to change it to Verdana, and then just change it, when I find a font that I like.

argh, the navigation is pretty annoying, because there isnt any :P
where will you be able to select a tutorial? ya havent said what the tutorial will achieve, and theres no way to return but to refresh :P
Sorry, it looks really clean and nice, but I can't navigate it :P Maybe I'm just dumb :)

what's wrong with is guys? It looks great to me, nice and simple too. I like how the steps keep moving up so it's easier to click through them. :A+: Really great portfolio site too! Fun stuff.

Ya..... its good except the fact that once you go to step 4, you can't go back to step 3 if you missed something.

You can go back but not too far, to go to the intro for example you first have to click step 2 or something.
The text, Times New Roman blurred, is horrible!
But the whole design and the effects rock!

Thanks you guys...
@fasterthanlight
I'm not sure I know what you mean? I can go back to older step, just have to move the mouse up above e.g. step 3, and click the mouse :)

If I could read the text I would comment, text in websites is a BIG keyelement!

First of all, thanks for the comments..
In the next update I'll change the font and fontsize, so it becomes easier to read, which is really important, since the user is going to read alot of text.
@fasterthanlight
That looks really wierd, seems like you're on mac, what kind of browser are you using? Because it's not supposed to look like that, obvious... I'll take some tests in different browsers maybe, but if you could tell me yours, it would be alot easier for me to fix. Hopefully :)

yea once you select an option the previous ones move up and out of sight and there is no way to get them back. other than that it looks pretty decent.

Mine also looks like Fasterthanlight's, and like Lukus I'm on XP Firefox. It looks a bit better in IE. So you need to make it cross-browser compatible, and like everyone else has said, sort out the text. Other than that, it's a very nice design.

This is how it should look though... it displays fine in Safari... in everything else I have it's wack. Aside from all the non-embeded fonts in email and the steps.

Okay, so I just uploaded a version, where the text is readable, at the moment the font is verdana, and I'll change it, when I find a font that I'm satisfied with. If anyone got an idea to a font, please let me know.
The next two tutorials will be about, how to take content from an XML document, and load it into flash, and change the style of the font, via an external CSS document, without having to write the <span class="whatever">textHere</span> inside the XMl document, this is espacially useful, if someone without knowledge about classes and tags, is going to edit the text. And still be able the change the font style in a moment.
I tried to change a few things in the .html document, please let me know if it helped for users, using Firefox.
Ohhh, and thanks for the comments :)

LoL... it's flash... that's about as cross compatible as it gets
If it's so cross compatible, how come it looked different in firefox and IE?
It's still cutting off the top and bottom of the flash file in firefox. I looked at the source, it could be where you specify the width and height of the flash as "100%" You could try specifying them as actual pixels eg. width="500" height="400"

I said placing isn't cross compatible... please read my post properly, besides I was messin w/ you hence the :P

Whoa, been away from this thread for a while
three things to say:
1. i'm running os x 10.3.9 using firefox 1.0.4
2. The update you did didnt help the problem on my end
3. This problem usually occurs when using the transparent window mode (From what I've found during the development of my own site).

Okay, so I just tried to follow gnu-'s suggestion, please let me know if it helped.
@fasterthanlight
Interresting observasion, but the window mode, have never been "transparent windowless", that's what they call it in flash, if I rember correct. Thanks for the tip though.

Looks fine on my Mac. The only thing is though... now you have about 800px worth of vertical scroll on Mac IE. But when the page launches it shows up centered... but with the scrollbar.

Sorry.
Oh and it works fine in Firefox now. I would suggest you dload a copy of FF so you can test out the code. And FF is a better browser than IE anyway.

Excellent! no browser problems and it's fast!!! Man, why can't all tutorials be in this fashion?!?!?! Tip: Perhaps the images on the right, could just be tad larger!

Nice and clean on XP with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape, AND Mozilla over here.
You might want to sort out that problem with the choices scrolling out of view. Maybe you can add a scrollbar to it so you can manually bring them into view if you want to go all the way back to the start from the end, for example.
Great work though!

Okay, seems like the problem might be solved. If it doesn't display correct please let me know. And thanks for the piece of code, seems like it helped:)
Good idea, to make the images bigger. Especially that it comes now, so I wont need to change the size of 100 images.
As I mentioned there come some new tutorials before the end of this week. I'll drop a line in this topic whenever a new tutorial is uploaded. Please let me know what you think of the current, should I be less explaning, more explaning. Is there a lack of images? All such stuff, would be great before I started writing more stuff, especially since one of our team members is currently sick, so we are loaded with work. But let me know what you think, and thanks for all the quick comments :)

Pixel fonts are extremely blurry, and you should put a Math.round function on your menu scrolling
