we finally decided to redo our old site design, and we were wondering if we could get a few expert opinions on it. All the colored elements in the header will be changeable, and remember, this is only a concept.

looks pretty cool, would like to see it with content and navigation in it. One thing i see that needs to go go in is the shiney red bar on the top of recent posts box, just to be uniform.

i think it's too much red (and the red's you have aren't working well together). i would try a white background with what you have now.

Definitely throw in another color to get rid of some of the reds. Replace the bars with a suitable color, maybe a yellow or an orange.

That's just a suggestion, but you just have far too much red.

Change some colours and make the grey background look not so plain..

if a white background doesn't work, i would try a #333333 background.

I got kind of bored and was messing with this to give you an example of how to make it look a little better, and here's an idea at least for you.

I think this blue color really helps break everything up and makes the site look a lot cleaner. I spent about .8 seconds on the background, so you don't really have to pay attention to it. Hopefully this at least gets the juices flowin a bit.

The logo also needs work, but I like it a lot better in the blue.

Yeah, i dunno about the colors like that. Maybe I will change the bg, but... I also have the problem that i am working with a partner, and we have to both agree, so... i dunno...

augh... i kinda want to cahnge it but i dont know how to so that it still looks cool. Like, use complimenting colors of what. i just dont know.

(Keep in mind that we will have user selectable color-themes, like i said before.)

Also, besides just commenting on the color, what do you think about the layout and the style of the graphics.

Make the shiny red bars smaller (height-wise.. they are too thick) and round the bottom edges of the interface, and round the top edges of the red bars on the content and posts boxes.

it's hard to judge layout without any sample content.

if you want to add a little more style to it I would get rid of some of the red or make it more saturated because it looks like a bloody salmon color and doesnt jive right.

i think that one of the big problems is the bland body with the flat grey and miniscule dropshadow. looks like a piece of paper.

a nice effect would be a very subtle scanline effect like the panther OS theme. almost a brushed metal look. just a few small details makes a big difference.
