must have linux apps anyone?

ok, i have just managed to catch the linuc bug and i am using suse linux 9.2.

anyway, are there any 'must have' apps that i should get? or anything like that?

btw which gui is more widely used? i prefer gnome for some reason :P

KDE and Gnome are battling for the top position. Both have their upsides and their downsides and I have read many debates that sounded reminescent (sp?) of a mac vs. pc debate. It comes down to user preference.

At the moment, I like gnome a lot better than KDE. I like how there are two panels instead of just one...plus themes are a lot easier to install and nautilus rocks! Last year, I loved KDE and couldn't stand gnome.
