I'm not sure where to post this question, but this looked like the best place.

I designed the graphics for the side of a trailer for a landscaping business. I created the design on Adobe Illustrator CS. I exported the file as .eps, just as the graphic printer wanted it, and put it on a cd.

However, the guy who is putting my design to life says that the file will not work for him. He said it opens fine on his Mac (I have PC if that makes a difference) but he can't move any of the objects around. I don't understand why because it works fine for me. I followed his instructions on how to export it. He keeps saying he wants only "lines and curves". Any idea what that means?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't understand why he can't just take the regular .ai file. But he wants it in .eps. I'm not quite sure what .eps is. He needs this file asap. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

sorry to post and say I dont know....however the .eps is cross platform and he should not have a problem.

Maybe export to an ealier version (8.0)?

well u could be dealing wit a moron, for instance, he might not realize the layers are locked. I mean thats the only thing i could guess from your post.

*By the way, if you get a mod to move this to the 'Drawing & Design forum, you will probably get more responses.*

ok, like most things, i'm not experienced with .eps but i *think* that there's actually .eps2 - not a different file type, but one with updated features - i was saving some stuff from illy CS and couldn't open it with another program that was quite old...

so yeah, i don't know where i got this from, but i think i read it somewhere. maybe that's something to look at (but probably not!)

There is a window that pops up sometimes that says that exporting it may not work for earlier versions. I don't really think that has anything to do with it because the guy can open the file. I thought about the unlocked layers too, but I was told that that was not it either. Looks like I'll have to get with him to look at it myself.

I appreciate everyones input. If I find out, I'll let you all know. If anyone does know what's wrong, I'm still open for suggestions.

Thanks.
