I am having a prob with my wireless and cable connection at home.. It is the weirdest prob too. I have a 17 apple laptop, and I take to work and work wireless great, everything is fast. Then I go home, and I have a D-Link wireless router. It was working good for the first couple of months. Now when I try to get on line it bogs for a bit, then loads the page.. IT SUX! I have called D-link, and tried to debug it and they say that it is my computer. But it can't be cause it works great at work.. Have any of you guys had this prob? thanks!!!

they say that it is my computer.
Yep, that's it. Blame the Mac *rolleyes*

:P

I've got a D-Link wireless router, too - DI-624+. Works great with my LG laptop running XP Home. I'd suggest checking for any radio[active] interference around the router or your laptop... that usually affects the signal.
:p:

Packet Loss? What is that?

Start->Run->[CMD]->ping #your.other.laptop's.ip#

You can see the packet loss there, if your router is running on 2.4Ghz, make sure you switch your channels so a 2.4Ghz phone doesn't interefere with your connection. Even if you don't have one, your neighbors probably does.

Exactly....

channel 1 or 13 are probably the best... your phone/microwave/baby monitor etc usually default to 6 or somewhere in the middle of the road...

There was a great article in wired that taled about it...

Which part are you stuck at specifically. Type in "cmd" into your run box without quotes, then "ping #insert.your.other.computer's.ping.here#" - quotes.

You mean #insert.your.other.computerOR ROUTER'S.INTERNAL IP ADDRESS.here#

Click Start.

Click Run.

Type in CMD and hit Ok.

In the command prompt that opens up, type:

ping 192.168.0.1 -l 1000

Thats minus L.. except lowercase.

um guys... hes on a mac....
ROFL!!! You're right!

FlashPlaya: Here's what they were trying to tell you:
- Press Cmd+Shift+G (Go To Folder)
- Type "/Applications/Utilities" in the box (without the quotes) and press Return
- In the resulting Finder window, find the 'Terminal' application and double-click it.
- In the Terminal window, type this:
ping <ip of your laptop>
(eg. ping 192.168.0.100)

That'll probably mean nothing to you, but just in case you were wondering what they were on about...

bai
