Played around (quite a bit) with Lindquists brownian motion code. Here's what I came up with. Tried to play with making the space where the squares aren't the focus. Anyhow, here you go:
height=125 width=550
EDIT: Added preview.
EDIT: Updated with slightly smoother movement.

Very clever strat :) At first I was getting pitchforks out, since you mentioned something other than circles, but you pulled it off well!

Did you try to make them circles instead of squares?
Also please use to colors instead of blue-lightblue-white

Not sure exactly what this means? The colors are the ones in the current bars, or did I miss something?

It is much better but I still think that you should try the circles...:)
