Tough croud I suppose?

BTW krnmikel laptops have started outselling PC's so perhaps grinch is really just on the cutting edge of the wave towards mobile! Perhaps?

Hey Grinch, mind if I ask where you got that? Im looking for a laptop right now and those specs are pretty nice for 1200. :)

I'm just jealous of your monitor lol. Yea yea to some 17" might not be brand new or anything like 22" (crackers!) but 15" sucks lol. However, your laptop sounds more fun than my compaq 1200 (that I got rid of) with a screen the size of my palm.

June 6th, 2005, 09:18 PM
Haha oh!

Well I got it at my local Costco (great deals on anything)

I adore this screen though, I got some high Rez widescreen wallpaper, and it looks stunning! :D

Guild Wars and Counter Strike source run very smoothy, and look great on the widescreen ;)

Just curious, what resolution are you running? (I promise I won't talk about Apple!)

Sorry I was rude earlier, so...
Congratulations!

yes i know it is a labtop but if you just use the labtop for home use than its pretty useless you could have built a cheaper pc and had a 21 inch lcd for a cheaper price. but if you take it around everywhere than i guess you need a labtop.

and what's up with toshiba? you could have atleast stick with sony or ibm. my personal preference would be a apple labtop but thats just because im a apple fan.

Lucky you Grinch :)

I want a laptop so bad... but here I am, with this 2002 2.0 ghz processor and monitor..

However my graphics card is awsome :D

But I stil lwant a laptop... I'm a student, it'd be so useful... dammit :(

Yeah I have a high end desktop for personal use, but I got this lappy just for portable reasons ;)

The reason I chose Toshiba was because it was the cheapest one there! ;)

I'm only a student, so I don't need a high end lappy.

Yeah I know, But I want a high end laptop so I can get rid of this junky old desktop :) Takes up way too much deskspace... damn CRT. And I Have to keep the actual computer on top too, otherwise I don't get wireless.

Thats a great buy grinch i have a 17"HP a year and a half ago and its just great i dont use my desktop anymore, the versatility of working or showing off your work on a laptop is great, especially in job interviews when they want to see your portfolio and stuff.

My laptop cost $1,800.00 but that was a almost 2 years ago and its the same specs as yours, i personally wnated the toshiba but it lacked the full keyboard and had less usb ports and no sd card slot so i ended up with the HP and i dont regret it one bit, once you go portable you wont go back especially with wireless its fantastic :thumb:

Why does everybody like IBM laptops? I must say, after both my brother and father have had one, they are by far the worst laptops you can buy. They brake, you can vacuum off the keys (my dad...), and are huge. They're also very heavy.

Plus, they don't even own their PC and Laptop division, Lenovo does.

Who wants to buy from a communist-owned company?

Why is the rant tag listed twice in the big list of vb Codes?

IBM makes light-weight laptops also. If you buy a desktop replacement, you are going to get a heavy laptop. I'm planning on getting an Inspiron 700m (http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/cto_inspn700m?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs)for portable use and a desktop for the larger sceen and better performance :)

I'm currently using one of those "desktop replacement" laptops, and it is really nice. It also weighs as much as a desktop, and...I'm frail and weak, so it doesn't work well for me!

Jeff Wheeler

Ok, from the notebooks I've seen of IBM, they're huge, heavy, and ugly.

I feel the same way. I have my desktop sitting in the corner in my room, and the laptop sure has taken its place. I love this baby, and I'm sure I'll stay wireless for a long time ;)

@G - This pup came with a Radeon 9700 Mobile... you can check out everything about it at

http://ati.com/products/MobilityRadeon9700/index.html

BTW - The widescreen monitor with TruBrite technology is overwhelming... I'd say it's a perfect system for a gamer/artist/programmer ;)
And the sound system thats built into is great! (for a laptop)

When I got my laptop, it came down to a toshiba or dell. Everyone I asked were not too familiar with toshiba it seemed, although they said they are well up there in the ranks. I like my dell though. No problems, and I customized myself to my needs.

Toshiba's are nice though. Congrats!
