Out of curiosity, do any of you guys do this? I mean more artistic stuff, not really related to websites or anything. What do you reckon of it as a medium?

I've been thinking about doing more. I have a long way before I'll consider myself any good at all. But I enjoy the feel and look that is produced by vector based art. The tools for line and curve optimization, and smoothing, can enhance a spikey organic look well.

I've found it's very good for drawing cartoon / Japanese style art. I'd stick an example up, but I have no idea how to get a .gif to appear in a posting. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT=":o">

Hey, I've only been using computers since I was 12...

Well, I'm not that good of an artist (which, naturally, is why I decided to make an animated cartoon...), but whenever I do draw I ONLY use Flash. The biggest thing that sets my art back is that I couldn't draw a straight line if my life depended on it. Flash auto-fixes your lines for you, which is convenient. If you get one of those pad thingies that you can draw on and it appears on your screen you've got the perfect set-up to draw with Flash, and you won't have to kill so many trees.

lol, yep I see what you're saying LA. I'm still very interested to know whether upu's is done with the aid of a wacom though?

I use Painter 6.0 to do the sketching. It's pencil tools are amazing, then I ink it in Flash. Both programs take advantage of my Wacom very nicely.

Personaly I don't know how people use Flash without a Wacom at all.. but that's just me I suppose.

Sometimes I use Poser to lay out proportions on human figures.. but even then I do my sketching in Painter and my inking in Flash.

Hey thanks Dave, you got some nice work there. Yep I'm ordering a wacom tomorrow, I should have done it a long while ago after various helpful discussions with RenGirl about drawing..
The only reason I haven't purchased one is because I quit my full time job and I just wanted to keep a check on my cash for a bit......
Gotta get one though :)

If only I could hit that erase button... j/k that's quite nice, as my English teacher says when she doesn't want me to get upset.
