Steven_JD got my vote, I liked the coloured flag... although I don't like the USA much.

Man Lee got my vote. I don't know how much of the concept he came up with himself, but either way it's brilliant imagery. The distortion on the text is quite neat. Also, it looks the least like it's been made in photoshop... which they definitely didn't have back in the 40's. :thumb:

I voted for EG, but lee's was really nice also.

Tommy - your entry was excellent, but since it the theme was about wwII posters, I didn't vote for your entry. Had this been a normal, unthemed battle, you would've gotten my vote!

:P

Yeah Tommy's is quite neat, but it just doesn't seem to carry the theme... unless there's something I'm missing?

Also, I have to add that although they aren't winning vote-wise, Steven and Arif did do some very nice work. I think if you guys had taken your posters and made them look like they were from the right period(ie. few colours, no semitransparency) then they would definitely have been bigger contenders. You both had great concepts and composition.

Steven, I also think you might benefit from not putting your name so large in your poster. It's distracting and the contest is supposed to be about the piece, not about the creator of the piece. If you do good work people will remember your name anyway.

So to sum up:

Man Lee: Great concept, great execution. Deceptively simple and effective, just like real propaganda.

TommyS: Looks cool, but I'm not sure how it ties in with the theme.

Arif: Nice concept, but it looks too much like photoshop and not enough like real American WWII posters. If you took the same composition and made it look more like it was from the 40's, I think you might have a winning entry on your hands.

Steven_jd: Same thing as Arif. You've got a great concept and your piece would be a strong contender if it were made to look more authentic to the right time period.

Yours was good but the plane really seemed photoshopped

Thanks,

I created the concept all on my own. I just studied what basic principles were used in propaganda during WWII. Bold text, One dominant image and solid colors. Warm colors were commonly used, I would think to invoke anger and hate towards the opposing side.

Oh yeah, by the way. I'm from BB forum. I just wanted to beat Steven. LOL.

Man Lee excellent image. It's got that simple yet powerful message conveyed by WWII posters..

Most of the other designs look to articulate to be WWII images.
that one: http://img85.echo.cx/img85/9455/battle4jv.jpg and that one: http://www.arifkamal.com/images/ww2_kirupa.jpg simply missed the point. TommyS I couldn't see yours.

I voted for man lee - I feel that his out of all the designs is something I would see walking down a sidewalk in early 1940's America. Simple and to the point, yet bold. The colors painting an image of a dark enemy we have to fight.

I voted for stevej's even though his text at the bottom totally ruins the whole design... I ignored the text and likes his.

Although, I think we should make a WWII Nazi Propaganda battle... that would be much harder.

I voted for Electric Grandpa's. I was debating between his and Man Lee's, but I've seen the whole dark Germany map + swastica thing a bit too much in propaganda.

mos def man lee. if i wouldnt have known this was an image made especially for this battle, i really could have believed that this was from the 1940s. man lee did his research. impressive.
