New site help.. Critiques and comments please.

Okay, so far, i sort of like my layout, but i want to enhance the background and the overall image. It is a bit plain and it is all pretty bland altogether.. The logo needs work to i think. Can you help me out a bit? I would appreciate it. Critiques and comments are welcome. :h:

Here is the updated picture. I cropped the bottom and added some cool stylish vines on the side. How does that look? It seems by adding the vines i must make my logo in a cursivey style as well.

And by the way, is a bit too wide?

Nice colours. the bottom part is maybe unnessesary because it just fills space I think.

Ya, i was thinking the same too. Is it too blue? I went maybe a bit overboard with the blueness of it. And one other question, should i keep the background solid, or make it a repeating texture or somethign?

The blue is ok I think, as long as you are able to line it with some good contents... and I think the plain background is OK. No need to texturize it.

hmm, the content area is a little large, maybe make it a tad smaller and just use scrollbars...unless you are showcasing essays :thumb: Also, I don't think it's too blue, because if you have a brown background, it will be equal.

Mmmk, good comments so far it seems. Bottom definately a goner. I will also maybe make the height a bit less too. I shall work on it some more later on today and update the look of it.

Messed around with some vines and did i over do them? Should i add some on the bottom, take some off from the left or right? What do you think?

Plz remove the images and just post links to them, its stretching out the forums :P , I wouldnt want you to get yelled at by a mod or anything. I dont like the scanline like thingies on the background, they seem to clash with the design, and take attention away from it, in my opinion. I like the explosiveness-looking thingy coming from the text. but I dont like the blue design on the top, It seems to be a little to much to me, I think it looked better on the sides only. I'm only a newb though, dont take what feel to the extreme.

lol, they are those blue things coming out from the sides? i guess they may not be "vines" but they are stringy looking things... :azn:

Okay, a totally revised one:
what side of the "vines" or stringy things do you like best? the left has no effect and the right as a small outerglow.

Left definetley. Right makes it look blurred.

Another tip, the nav bar should be on top, but thats not required, however I strongly recommend making it smaller... that thing is CHUNKY.

I think color is ok but the text at the bottom must go. It doesn't fit, maybe, you can change the font type and size and place it at the bottom left/right.
