The title says it all, please feel free to enlighten me with your [constructive] criticism, and god forbid; praise.

The website is www.estenafilms.com (http://www.estenafilms.com)

Thanks in advance, I look forward to reading all your responses!

P.S I am going to change and embed the fonts soon. However I can't seem to find any font that appeals to me, if anyone has any suggestions as to a good font, (and maybe where I can find it) I would greatly appreciate it.

Well done for your first full flash page :)

However;

I dont find the big fat outline on the content pages very appealing. It's too massive, either change it to a hairline or remove it all together.
I also think you are using way too many colours. Keep the use of colour to a minimum and use colour to 'highlight'.
The mask of the background picture and the little things that follow themouse on the menu are too much. Use either but not both as they are not alligned.
and as you mentioned... the font is def. not the right font to use. I'd say even an Arial / Arial Narrow would be better but that's just my oppinion.

Hope I wants too hard on you, only I'd want someone to be honest with me too if (and when) I ask for help. :D

But well done for your first flash site :thumb:

Maybe you could look for fancy fonts in http://www.dafont.com

Not a bad first site. A few things to change:
1) add a button to stop the music.
2) Dont use the mouse follow effect twice. I'd keep the background one but attatch it to the one on the nav bar so it moves on click, scrapping the red lines and arrows that came with the tutorial source files! I'd also have the entire image in the background all of the time but alphered down so the mouse effect makes it more visible.
3) when you choose your fonts, stick to a certain size from section to section.
4) Choose some colours and stick to them. Use prettyboy's magical site of wonder. http://www.colourlovers.com/
5) Try to break up the huge blocks of text to make it all more readable.

Good luck!

nice for a first! I would add a mute button deffinately, and change the font. Those 2 things would make it a lot better.

I see a lot of tutorials used from Kirupa! Glad to see you are learning! That's what its all about. I am not big on some of the colors used, and the rather boring layout. But everything works and its easy to navigate. Keep it up!

Boon out~

i think it is a poor effort for a first site.

it totally lacks imagination in its layout and presentation of information. Technically its okay, meaning it works. From the sound of it you are going to address the shortfalls such as colour and font. But I dont think the site does any justice to what is an extremely successful individual.

the intro is the best thing by far, but you need to slow it down. it was hardly there to be seen before it was gone. The font you used I assume is meant to be kind of 'art deco' and looks good, just not sure about the purple. Try and find fonts that will complement an 'art deco' theme if that is what you would like to achieve. By this I mean 'Script' fonts. as has been said, you can find some free ones at www.dafont.com or look in the 'resources' section of 'drawing and design' on kirupa (a sticky at the top of the thread) for more free font sites.

the font used in the mask on the main page is great! just used in a tacky way.

the menu itself is far too big. it distracts from the content and looks as if its been designed for partially blind people to use :P

choose a consistent simple colour scheme. Shades of grey will suit art deco well with an accent colour that is richer as opposed to the vibrant colours you have used.

the flash effects on the site dominate the content, i.e. the picture and the text. which to me is the cardinal sin to flash design. keep it a lot simpler and remember people like me are there foo the content not the effects. a well thought out layout and colour scheme with smooth, subtle transitions is what I would be aiming for.

Just a newbie here but I think it would have looked really cool ( since "film" is in the domain) to have your preloader look like an old time counter to an opening movie ...which would match your black and white theme.

Just a thought.

I appreciate all the input. I made many subtle changes inspired by all your suggestions. Please take a second look, and let me know what you think of the revised version.

Thanks in advance
