Everythings very cool except the fact that I gotta drag them back in order to see the page again

Ya, I'm trying to implement a fail safe so that if one is already in the dropzone and the user clicks and starts to drag another button the one thats already "locked in" will ease back to its origin. We'll see what happens...

Didn't I help you make that in a thread a few weeks back? Anyway, if you need help building that failsafe, just give me a holler.

Sure did! :)!
Massive redo of the interface though...
I posted a message in the old thread:

Thanks once again.

i agree that you shouldn't have to remove one to see another section. it should just fade in maybe into its container when a new one gets dragged into the load area.

ooooh! very nice, i like it a ton! I know this is asking a lot, but I think it would be cool if the letters actually made a real word.

Quick! Whats a synonym for "Inquiries" that begins with the letter E?

hmmm, i quite like it, the only problem could be if someone wanted to navigate very quickly, it could be annoying then, but i do like it.
also, i knew you had to drag something b4 i saw the site so i wonder how easy it would be to figure out for the average computer illiterate person

Agreed, will look into making a quick navigation controlled by the keyboard.

I was hoping the "Drag Here" would help clear things up for them. :)

Seeing as the inquiries page will be a form they have to fill out to get an estimated price, i've now called it Estimation. Now the letters read: P-E-A-C-E
Invokes a positive message, AND looks better than P-E-I-A-C
RadioactveChimp
May 23rd, 2005, 11:34 PM
perfect, nice one...but i think "estimation" should just be "estimates"
fasterthanlight™
May 23rd, 2005, 11:37 PM
True. I'm having second thoughts about "PEACE"... I don't want to be portrayed as a hippie... Oh well, early in the design, lots of things to do.

Ok, forget about "PEACE", i'm going to use PIECE (I dont know why..... i just like it better), now i need a synonym for "About" that begins with an E, or an I.

May 24th, 2005, 02:23 AM
God dammit, disregard post number 28.
PEACH is what im going to go with... Now I need an H word for Experiments. or Estimates.

About with an I: Information ?
if I look up the word Inquiries in my English-Danish dict. I get the word forespørgsel and if I look up that word in my Danish-English dict I get Enquiries... (?) So perhaps you can spell it either way, or is one American and the other British?
Experiments with an H : Hands-on training ;)
can't find an H word for Estimates tho cos I'm not sure what content you want to use it in...:puzzled:
Hope the above is of some use...
/mette
p.s. I like the design and the navigation, but I'm not a fan of the brown/redis sun. Not with the blue and I dont think it goes with the background pattern at all. I like the pattern tho ;)

Looking great! I'd change the text back to what you had it before for each section...over on the left of the site...(in blueish color) other than that I think it's great!

Inquiries is one word and Enquiries is another but they both mean exactly the same thing :)
I think the nav is pretty cool but i think you need to make it known to users what to do cos a lot of users may not know

I don't want to sound like a complete a-hole, but I thought that the "DRAG HERE" was pretty self explanatory...
Thanks for all of your input, keep it coming!
**Added an options panel, right now you can only change the rate of speed in which the buttons snap back into place, but soon it will be host to a whole slew of neat tricks.**

Added support so that the user can choose between the two different "modes" (Slide vs. Fade) via the options panel. Tell me what you think!!!!!!

I think the new variations of the navigation are quite smooth, i like it, my only issue would be conceptual, i think removing a letter when you drag the icon creates gaps in your layout.. I think if you have like a ghost or very dim version of the icon stay in its original place as you drag itself to the holder it would look much better.

 cool ,that looks much better dont you think? and i like the additional animation options (slide, fade) nice work mate :thumb:
Oh and you may want to increase the panels hit area for more than the text area. i was cliking on the top and it didnt slide out so i thought it was not working..
fasterthanlight™
May 25th, 2005, 08:19 PM
i agree it does look much better, retains the word PEACH when a section is selected. And the panel hit area was bugging me, just never got around to fixing it until just now.

May 25th, 2005, 08:49 PM
Yeah very neat.
I think you should make the slide as the default instead of the fade. And perhaps make it so that the other letter "returns" only once you drop it into position, instead of what you pick it up... but I'm just nitpicking.
I also like the sound menu and options menu pop-ups. very neat.
