If you want to remove the blue screen, and then change the color for example, you can apply color key filter to the composition, then select blue it should remove enough blue if you tweak the settings.

Chroma keying is a PAIN IN THE ARSE. Don't think it's that simple.
Filming on blue screen (or green, depending on the subject you're filming) must be done very carefully, ie have no creases in the backdrop (if it's cloth) or cracks in the wall, you must illuminate it evenly, you must not illuminate it too much or it spills on the object, ideally you must film using non-standard cameras (DV cameras actually encode the image and leave artifacts which won't look good after chroma keying)...
Then the AE is also tricky, you have to use a selection of effects (chroma keying, spill, choke etc...) to have a neat image. I recommend using keylight, a special plug-in which will ease up the process.

Blue Screen tips in AE:
I did a video in the new year which required heavy blue screen work, the trick to doing smooth blue screen elimination in AE is filter it about 3 times at different settings, and it will very very smooth, fine hairs will be left and unbroken.
I dont have the program right in front of me and dont want to sound sketchy about how to make the person a "walking color" but i did it before with a hockey player. Needed to make the bg black and him entirely white, which played as part of a titling sequnce. I will repost how to do it in AE when i got it in front of me.
