well, there's a difference in following a tut and recreating the final result for yourself, and just plain copy paste the image, that's nasty...

Me, I try out a tut, and then start over all by my self, not looking at the tut. Then it kinda get's burned into my brain :P

much like the basic AS I know now, I hardly ever use a reference, I've got it all in my head =)

Well, that guy is not being very smart, is he? I mean, who is he punishing excepthimself, and the people who were visiting his site? Now eveything that's left are the ripped tutes...

agreed, its like inventing a new car, then when people rip off the the design, you pull it from the market....the rippers get everything

but i feel for him, there is a certain point where you say enough is enough, the internet is a dirty place, this dude couldn't cope

That is what I do as well. And yes, that was an INCREDIBLE tutorial. Very in depth and produced a great effect. I remember doing it a while back.

People are annoying.

ok so one tut is gone, no biggie

sad thing is

And *THANK YOU* for making me NOT want to make any new tutorials for this site. Spending hours on a new tutorial - just to find it on another site a week or two later?

UNFLUX

well, you can't really blame the guy. I'd feel the same way if that
happened to me all the time. I'd have a lawyer look at it for me
tho. Copyright is a very serious offense on the net right now.

hey lost - I ever tell you how much I hate people?

I emailed her and told her she was a dumb[butt]

I mean why else make tutorials like that? Shes not selling them. Shes not losing money because of this; shes still getting the word out there - shes spreading her knowledge. The fact that her tutorials are being duplicated should be a complimentary gratification. Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery. Now shes stopping altogether and it just reflects poorly on her own self.

I think its re****ulous :-\

I don't blame her either. Her site has excellent tutorial, he obviously puts a tremendous amount of work into them. So of course she would be angry when people just steal all her hard work and say "oh, check out this tutorial we wrote".

And nope, but i'm pretty sure I know. I think everyone here knows how much I hate people, especially a lot of people here in Philadelphia

I agree with sen...

the energy spent on this mental masturbation is insane...

It has always happened (Mr. Comstock of the largest Silver strike in the history of USA, was a con man who said it was his mine, for example), is happening right now, prob to me even, and will continue to happen... Do I try to alter my life? some, when it isn't really a hassle to do something different, maybe... But in general, life is way too short to be concerned with copycats and imposers. If you have to rely on stuff with your name on it to prove it's yours, then the web is prob not the medium for you.

Just my unrequested opinion.

I think all the person wanted was some recognition for their tutorial, ive seen people post 'copy' tutorials all over the web, but these people have the common courtesy to say that they got inspiration from the site where they originally got the concept. and usually provide a link, saying 'check it out'!!

soulty -

I agree with you on that. A simple link for recognition would have
been at least a tip-of-the-hat for the hard work. The LEAST they
could have done, IMO.

true, but why waste the energy on them... Only you can let people effect you...

Hey.. Alot of people have copied my stuff and you don't see me whining and throwing a fit.... anymore that is..

When one of myd esigns got copied and used somewhere else.. I was pissed at first... But then after sitting down and resoning with a bunch of thoguhts I just shrugged it off..

If someone wnats to be a fake.. Let them be a fake.. As long as you know that what you are doing is right in your own mind.. Then you will be allright.

All is well and good with that, but when people are fake by copying exactly what you have, sometimes people tend to think you are the fake one if they saw the other one first. So some sort of credit should be given at least.

I'm sorry, but I have a lawyer to help me with this exact problem,
and for good reason. I have a copyright infringement letter that I
had written to serve as a "cease and dissist" for any
unauthorized work I find posted of mine.

It gets sent to the owner of the domain, the company that
represents the site, the isp that hosts it, and the owner of the
web site if I ever see any of my work posted elsewhere.

Once this letter is received, and no action is taken on their part, I
notify my lawyer, and it's out of my hands and into the courts.

I don't take copying/ripping lightly, and I don't ever plan to. I
don't work as hard as I do to make and create to have someone
come along in a few seconds and claim it as their own. :bad:

I'm making a living doing this, and plan to do it for a long time. My
and my company's livelyhood depends on it.

This subject REALLY burns me, and I better stop now before I say
something I'll regret... http://www.unflux.com/bb/angryfire.gif
