I'm designing a site for my church and am pretty well versed with PHP/MySQL/Apache whatever... What I want to do is have the content in a database and display it in its respective location in the template using PHP.

I'm looking to do the layout in CSS and am asking for the forum's input / criqitue on my proposed method of delivering the content.

Two Questions:
1. Should I use a pre-packaged CMS or build my own?
Database requirements are: Member Table, Events Table, Articles, Photo Gallery @ the minimum.

2. Is CSS best suited for this application?

Attached is an image of the layout I'm looking to use... (http://offthehookfashions.com/gmail.jpg)

i guess it just depends on if you want the site to be your own work and spend more time on it, or get a premade cms and save a lot of time. If you are looking to put this in a portfolio i would do it all yourself. I would only make content dynamic when it will be updated frequently, those tables looks good to me.

css if fine for dynamic content but tables are easier in my opinion.

You can use Mambo http://www.mamboserver.com, this one it's a very good option if you want to use a pre-packaged CMS.

Personally I think you should make your own if you are able to. You can customise it to the max and make it just how you like it.

Omega: Yea, that sounds like a winner, but I need a few features like automatic image resizing and the submission system needs to be really simple to use. I've all but settled on using mambo/drupal at this point for time's sake..
