morse said it right. D&D forum is like your portfolio...you have a ton of cool crap in there and unless someone asks, you won't show any of it. I know there are a lot of cool PS'ers and vector specialists out there. Show your work! On this thread, on the forum....just show it! There is a need for us to critique you and there is a need to be critiqued! Stand Proud! :hr:
here is something I whipped up. Old Black and white photo cleaned up, layered with color. Actual image is 200megs! ;(

That's all? The current PS document I'm working on now is 1.5 gigs, LoL. When it's open it shows your scratch disk usage... my scratch disk is up to 4.3gigs. Good job on the enhancing though... I'd show a lot more of my work on the forum if it wasn't for that silly NDA thingy ma bob. If and when my site gets up everyone can see it there though... LoL.

Wow those are ridiculous file sizes... wtf!

simp...considering it was a supplied scan of an 8.5 by 11 and that there are only 6 layers I would consider that large. I think I should also get the award for the most defensive member...I seem to always try to justify everything...here I go again!.....dam!

Is that the layered PSD or flattened? The PSD would be that large cause it has to retain the layering and color information. I think it's a reasonable size.
@grinch
Mine is that large cause I do lots of photomaniuplations, dynamic lighting effects, and lots of airbrushing... oh yea... and it's 600dpi poster LoL :D this one has about 70+ layers on it.

It is the PSD. hell yeah it's easy to get into the gig plus range. I made this poster of a bunch (50) of me flying out of my own skull. many layers, many effects, many layer effects...it's a wonder that my PC can handle it. On a side note, simplistik...you use a mac. I have heard that if you have the installation discs for your PC programs, MAC will accept them as well. Is this true? The ONLY thing holding me back is the software dilema. (Flash works too doesn't it?)

Hmm... as for the PC/Mac software compatibility... no... that's not true. What they used to do is put PC and Mac versions on one CD, but then they figured out they can just charge more for putting them on seperate CDs. LoL... but no... a windows .exe isn't even recognized by Mac as something launchable. There is a PC emulator you can put on your Mac to make them run... but I dno't recommend it. Just go out and buy a cheapo $500 PC or somethin. I find that these software dilemas everyone is talkin about silly :P. The only thing that I don't have on my Mac that I do on my PC are games. There is always something to supliment the need.

Cool, I understand that. I guess I can figure it this way. Studio MX 2004...$1000.00. Adobe CS2...$1150.00 Apple Power Mac G5...$2000.00
Total apple designing bliss... about 5k....ooops....I mean priceless.
(I'll stick with my dell until I get that bid from the government)

Or you could get someone to "donate" the software to you...

May 11th, 2005, 06:36 PM
Macromedia Studio MX 2004 came on dual format disks, so it can be installed on either. You'll have to sort out the license though, I know the software has a "Transfer your software license . . ." option under help though so that should be an option. Additionally Adobe will allow you to switch. If I remember correctly you have to destroy the old disks and pay something like $10-$15 to have them shipped. If you want I'll see if I can dig up the details. (Gee, you'd think I'd researched this or something eh?)
EDIT: Oh, and in order to not totally hijack this thread I'll look around and see what I've got that I can put up in the forum :D

Original file is about 20 mb so this is an optimized version, hence the slight blurryness...

Okay here's something entirely weird. I really wanted to draw something but nothing was coming to mind.. so a tiny doodle turned into this weird thing. I'll keep messing with it and refining it, maybe shade it eventually.
