If the guy wants to have a conversation about his site, then it's not spam. He's obviously interested in posting more than once here. And as a game designer it fits in perfectly with Flash. I have been working on concepts for a universal deck of cards to be used in any number of gambling games. Personaly I think Slots is a little too easy to do online.. but I really don't know what goes into building something like that? Aren't you interested?

oh yes.. if that's all he posted, or if this thread is all he ever posts in here, I'd say yes it's spam. It should be deleted, or let fall into the chasm of old posts we have...

but to not give a person the benefit of the doubt, is to MAKE it spam giving the author no choice but to leave without posting again.

If Kirupa wants to delete it he can, but personaly I have no problem with it. Hopefuly he will listen to my thoughts on the matter.

I've found on the web that there is little reason if ever to delete something. What on earth is offensive about this post? Why would it need to be deleted. Does anything ever remain at the top of the first page for very long? Only that which is interesting. I personaly find it interesting that anyone would consider deleting spam at all. There is no such thing as a precident which cannot be changed by creating a new forum rule and then exercizing our right to supress information. Again, IF that becomes a problem. Any time we do so when it is not a problem, sets a dangerous precident for censorship and supression of information. Information, being our stock and trade, should be limited as little as possible.

Dave I see what you're saying and I didn't find the post offensive at all. I can just see Phil's point too regarding people filling up the forums with their very own business adds

Worst case scenario would be some kid seeking flash help and he/she reads the post and then decides to use his /hers fathers or mothers credit card (just for a bit of fun :) )

It's a long shot I know but I think it might be a good thing for something to be laid down in the rule book. Along with ****o or racism links/comments. Lets face it the site gets bigger and bigger all the time and there must be a huge amount of adolescent viewers tuning in. On a none Flash level it would be nice to know you'd done everything you possibley could have to protect them, maybe.

Don't take my words as anything but playful poking of fun at you. I know what your intentions were and I think that it is quite noble to attempt to have some semblance of decorum around here with regards to the posts.

I'll see if I can come up with something for the rule list. I will say this though.. if I make a rule about where posts should go, and which are appropriate, I will not discriminate. Any posts that apear in the random or Flash 5.0 forum that actually belong in site check, or testing forum, will be moved there without explination. This has to apply to everyone, INCLUDING ourselves, or it can't be enforcable at all.. or at the very least I wont enforce it.

I didn't think anything was up with ya. I thought it was pretty phunny. But I personally would rather it stay the same as it is now. Nobody goes to those other rooms, at least not all, and not very often. I think someone just was having some phun at my expense or yours (a frameup, someone making IT LOOK like it was you, as that would be everyones guess)

But I have a sneaking suspicion you were phramed. :evil: Just have that gut pheeling. And I wasn't in the least offended, I know it is a sign of filial love when people pheel phree enough to poke phun at me, or others in jest. My skin is not as thin as you might think. I enjoy it! It is phar better than being ignored. :x And I can tell when someone is being malicious or not. But that disappearing post made me crack up, more than you know. Personally I wouldn't worry about offending anyone in hear, you were not abusive nor shouting and swearing at any one so don't worry.
The site looks well made throughout. I never gave an opinion on it before as you never asked for an opinion. Also it would be in the wrong section for opinion asking.

Others may love it and give you loads of feedback where as others may not invite links to money making websites to be placed on the boards. It never offended me personally but I rue the day where Kirupa.com becomes a free for all advertising arena.

The reason I was so adament about the way I wrote my delete this post was the way you started. You weren't asking for opinions, you were asking for credit card numbers, in essence. Thats all. And although I would like to emphasize to everyone AND you as well that RANDOM means RANDOM, it was kind of obvious that this was an advertisement and to be honest I would probably say this board wasn't the only one you posted this at. And the post itself struck a nerve anyways, as I have deep and seated prejudice AGAINST online gambling that will never be changed, as I have empathy for anyone who might pisss away his childrens food money or his mortgage for what is a sure loss. And please, I am not open to debate in this area, I will not change my mind. It is quite closed in this area. It is a moral thing to me and I think that online gambling is just a sham and a scam with absolutely no way of confirming verity or with any regulation. Without these, I am free to think as I do. At least with Vegas it is open to regulation and observation, something you are not. With Online gambling is all someone has to do to help make more money for themselves is to lower the odds and math threshhold of a win and knowing human nature as I do think this is one of the biggest rippoffs on the internet. Having said all that I think this post was good for me inasmuch as this; I think the next time I update my advertising I am going to remove all such gambling advertising I have now, I think I have 2 or 3 on my site, and I really wasn't thinking about this as I was trolling through my advertisers list looking for the ads that would make the most money. I even think that I might have your advertising on my site right now, or possibly that it was one of the choices, it looks very familiar. And on top of that, this is the exact type of thing that has completely ruined the online personal ads, people that post their filthy **** ads all through the personals with all sorts of deception and lies, making the service absolutely worthless, and I don't want that to happen here. Those people don't care if they ruin a service that other people find appealing, as the online personals, and they are ruined and worthless cause of this. And that truly pisses me off in a deep unchangeable kind of way. They drop their ad and run to the next online personals to drop their ad, and so on and so on.

So, nothing against you, but it was the way you posted that drew my ire; There wasn't anything like, I just made this neat site in Flash, a gambling site. check it out. Had that been there I would have just seen your ad, cursed it under my breath and moved on; But it was very clearly a come and drop your money at my site type of post and my guess is after you posted it you were on to the next drop. So for what its worth, thats why I caused all this trouble for you. And having said that I welcome you to Kirupa and hope you stick around for all your development needs. :rollin: And I also hope that Random stays random. I mean I have looked up that word and know its meaning. It means I could post flash 5 stuff in here, as it is random, an actionscript question, it is random. But random does mean random, as I know it means random. And please, I am not willing to discuss any of the opinions I posted above, I WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND. So please dont go there. But other than this post, like I said, I welcome you. And I hope your not offended by my forthrightness. It's not you, your service, its just a principle of mine that I seem to have broken myself by offering gambling on my own site. That was my fault. I asked the Mods to delete it only because in the last few weeks there have been a lot of children at Kirupa. And to be honest, I don't think I should have posted mine either. It was bad judgement. I hope you will forgive me, it was just the beastiality thing. And again I admit my judgement was poor for posting mine, but my reasoning at the time was skewed. While I know God says; Don't lay with a beast of the Field, (as if many of us need to be told that) this was a case of a Beast laying with a human of the land. And I knew that God never told the animals not to be fer doing that. But it was me who asked it be deleted, and only for the sake of the 13 year olds I have seen on the board lately. I hope you'll forgive me. But take it out on me, cause I was the one who asked for it to be made to go away.
