favicon summary

I've made a favicon and have found that it works much differently then the ones I've seen on the net.

The examples below show the Type of file (as): Icon and the Summary with specific specifications. How does everyone save their favicons? Do you use a certain program, what are the steps to take to save it just like these examples. Where do I find the .ico extension?

Any insight would be great, thanks!!

Lokas has a great tool for making Icons and in my opinion the best out there. There are also plug-ins for PS, ut I thought it was native to CS. Too lazy to check right now. Anyhoo, I use Lokas Sofware's Icon Tool. www.awicons.com
