need a logo

i need a logo for our club in our school
it is called FOCUS CLEAR LAKE.
we dont have a logo right now
it doesnt have to be professional but you ps experts, in kf, i know, can just do it in 5 mins.

Right. This (see attached image) is a logo. You might not think it's a very good logo but hey, c'est la vie. Those (leveler and Dewfiend's pictures) are NOT logos. Dewfiend's is close but not quite. I don't know what Sparky is looking for exactly but when someone says the word logo, in my mind PS goes out the window. Say hello to Illustrator. If this "logo" is going to go on t-shirts it has to be distinct, scalable and printable, three attributes these so called logos do not have.

I'm not trying to sound angry or mean or anything here guys, I just want to teach you the difference and help you get better. Leveler your picture is very pale and indistinct and could never be used as a logo. Dewfiend, your logo is very basic and your typography needs a lot of work.

So anyway, here's my take on "Focus Clear Lake" Sparky. Hope ya like it.

Oh sparkey I was just playing with some homless kids last night at Interfaith Hospitaity Network somthing our church does. you like sign up for like, bringing food and spending the night in the top floor of the rectory to make sure everything runs smoothly, you gotta' make sure they go to bed on time, make sure they wake up on time so they don't miss their bus that takes them to some day place were they saty over the day then they come back for dinner and then head over to the rectory again. we were eating dinner with them and making sure thier aren't "food fights":beer:

leveler you are making designs that are weak for an image let alone a mark to identify anything.

try to think of a logo as a symbol with text being designed secondary to compliment the symbol(unless your going for a logotype). if the symbol doesn't communicate the idea then dont bother with type because it is not strong enough yet. also if you can't get the message across in black and white the symbol isn't strong enough yet, you can always go back and add color to enhance the message but the color should not be the basis for the logo.

It's still gotta be vector and clean. Why not have something that looks good. I personally don't do shoddy, 5 minute work. Granted I didn't spend very long on that logo but I think it looks good.

If Sparky was a paying client he could ask me to do another one or redo that one, but since he's not he can take it or leave it. Why would I bother at all if I wasn't going to end up with a high quality finished product.

As for why they need it, wouldn't they want to put out the most professional image they can to people, so they will get more support.

Just because sparky liked my logo more than yours is no reason to go bashing.

Because it's still an expression of who they are. Crappy logo/design gives the perception of a crappy group. So regaurdless of how you think it should look... it still should be clean.
