Ok I know this has nothing what so ever to do with flash :) I'm just taking advantage of the "Random Title" I ovbiously haven't a clue who thinks football/soccer sucks! but I just thought I had to bring the subject up :)

It's coming, I CAN FEEL IT! World Cup Fever! Once every four years, man that's been a long wait........
Some of you will hate it where as others will love it.
I'm just wondering who people think will win it.

Personally I'll go for France to win, and as always I fear Spain will be the under achievers considering their standards on the European scene.
I wish I could run a book on it! but I can't ovbiously.
Come on people anyone who's passionate about their sport, stake your claim.........
Roll on the world cup.
Sorry if this BORES the hell out of alot of you :) it's only once every 4 years and I love it ;)
Come on ENGLAND!!!

France wont win it, before they had something good a "united france" they had a mixture of races in their team, after the electoral mess they are in the country is in a state, the french are very into politics, so they wont win.

ENGLANDDD!!!!! However, will also not win, which is a shame, although, I will still be supporting my country!! COME OONNNN!!!!

WORLD CUP FEVER IS HERE!!!!

Yep! we gotta get behind ENGLAND, and I still think France could do it.
I've also gotta funny feeling that this post wont get many comments. I don't think there are many footy fans around kir's board.
World cup fever is still coming though ;)

What team do you support?

I wouldn't like to say really, I know you'll slate me....
MUFC forever. I'm guessing your a blue nose, or a gooner, or the villa?
Please don't slate me too bad ;)

I thought you may be a villan, just a lucky guess ;) ok we'll keep it going right through the tournament!
Who are you putting your money on then?

too bad I can't be of much input....I never really was a big fan of soccer (or Football for you Europeans hehe). I'll definitely catch the game on TV though; it's a crime not to watch one of the best games of the year in the most popular game in the world :)

Cheers!

I love soccer (sorry I live in the US). Its one of my favorite sports, but I don't have the time to follow the World Cup action. I play Fifa 2002 for Playstation 2.

Nah, I don't give a rats *** about the US team. They suck. I'd go for England, my roommate wants to see Japan win...

I've just handed in a request to have the day off for the England v Argentina game. Well, it's 12.30 on a Friday, there's not much chance of my getting any work done anyway, so why not enjoy the game from the comfort of my lounge, with snacks in one hand and alcohol in the other?

And before anyone asks which team I support, it's my beloved Gillingham. :) No Premiership glory hunting for me!

Personaly I hate American football.. but European football rocks. You got to have respect for a game where the fans are more dangerous than the players. It's why I like Soccer (realfootball) Hockey, and Rugby. Every other sport is pretty much for chumps who like a lot of rules and to argue them over very fatty foods.

There was a very interesting programme on the BBC over the weekend about football hooligans, and surprise surprise, most of it was about Millwall fans...

Hopefully all the Americans will understand this one. :D

That's what Millwall fans do.

Yep that was a pretty kewl programme. Sorry I must say the so called football fans in that prog were complete and utter dip ****s, how pathetic can a bunch of grown men be! They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.
I'm sure most people around the world would have been appalled by their behavior.
They went to a game soley to cause trouble and in general smashed up pubs and kicked people in the head.
They didn't know they were being filmed by secret cameras.
The bloke wearing the secret camera was pretending to be one of the thugs, drinking with them in bars, and sort of getting involved with the violence.
Truly was a shocking insight into a bunch of morons social passtime.

The crazy Irish streak rises up again and the whole of the Irish fottballing nation suffers. The Captain of the Irish world cup side "Roy Keane" gets sent home before the darn thing has even begun! doh it's not meant to happen like that "Roy"
Apparantley he had a bust up with the manager and the boss sent him packing :(

The madness must be spreading! I just saw on the news that two of the swedish players had a punch up in training LOL :)
It's all kicking off and it hasn't even started yet.

Just had the obligatory office sweepstake for the World Cup - £3 each in the kitty and a team out of the hat. I seem to have drawn Sweden. Hmm.

So I guess I just have to hope that the players haven't all hospitalised each other by the time the first game comes round.

ET UN ! ET DEUX ! ET TROIS 0 !!!!
FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE. Well, actually, if Zidane doesn't play, and if we play like we did against Belgium, there are no chances we're gonna win the World Cup. But then again, who would have bet 1 EuroCent on France 4 years ago ??

PSG, PSG, PSG... Paris Saint Germain rocks !!

I apologise for bringing the subject up again but I'm in my element :) the games have begun!!
So far they have been really good and we've only just begun ;) that was a lyric from a Carpenters song I think. Germany won 8-0 today and the Irish really did themselves proud. It's the turn of the mighty English tomorrow, we play Sweden and I couldn't really predict which way it'll go.
It's fairly tough making predictions nowadays as the level of team quality has risen dramaticaly in recent years. Take for instance Holland, a great footballing nation with an abundance of talented footballers "they never even got in it, shock horror" so this proves that the teams that did make it are all top drawer..

England only qualified because David Beckham scored an equaliser against Greece in the last few seconds of the game to make it 1-1. So you can see just how hard it's getting to qualify for this one of worldwide spectical.
God I wish I was in Japan :)

Soccernet also contains elements of flash so I thought I'd post it anyway

football crazy, and it's only once every four years so it's allowed :)

:rollin: Don't be so sure...
By the way, I've not yet been very impressed by a team (well, except Senegal). Argentina was so so, Spain was weak, Germany had an easy round... We'll see Brazil tomorrow.

Come to think of it Cameroon looked preety tasty for 45 minutes :)

Good luck ! -this is pure looser-solidarity... (Is Beckham gonna play at all ?)

June 5th, 2002, 05:21 PM
Yep Beckham will be playing, I'd imagine he'll give a good 90 minutes this time although he'll be tired obviously.
All we need is a free kick and he'll sort things out ;)

How ironic if that veron does us in. He didn't really do much in the UK so I'm hoping it'll stay that way...

Good tournament so far!!!!

Pom the French aint gonna loose again, bring on Mr Henry + Mr Trezeguet ;)

ilyaslamasse
June 5th, 2002, 05:38 PM
Actually, you may have never heard of him, but we also have a certain Djibril Cisse, who's the top scrorer of the French championship... And we haven't scored yet... Best scorer of the English, Italian and French championship and still no goals, for France hip hip hip...

June 6th, 2002, 04:27 AM
Yep I've heard of him aswell. How can you fail to win with three goalscorers like that. Three of the best in Europe and the world come to think of it. I'm sure your boys have had their wake up call
I'm behind em Pom, I'll be watching, not long to go know I can feel the tension building ;)
