a while ago i put up a WIP of a site i was working on the site for the leadership team (in which i am one of the two leaders) at my school.

the final product is here (http://www.cvxmck.edu.au/content/student/committees/cultural/index.htm)

it works fine in explorer, and i know there's a problem with it in firefox (not aligning properly). i've been told to just fix it up because of the growing firefox population.

if anyone can help with the aligning problem that would be great.

other than that let me know what you think of it.

btw it's only a school site and it's meant to be simple and easy to use.

ps i know the "contact us" link isn't working - i'm working on that atm.

Very Nice! I like the link text! The header looks cleaner, The section headers look great. I think it looked better in flash though, and im not a big fan of the grey border, looks too much like standard windows. Hmm in FireFox haven't looked into it enough yet to see the problem, but worse than the spacing is that a horizontal scroll bar shows up :S I like the vertical scrollbar you got for IE though, how did you make that? Also the content areas look a little plain. Maybe add some colour to the text. I like the look and feel of this one better, but i liked how you had it in flash before.

EDIT: i figured out what the problem was. i just hadn't put in a rightmargin value and that was stuffing it up. you'll still see the unedited version of the site cos i haven't updated it yet.

DOUBLE EDIT: checked in firefox now and it's stuffing up - argh! can anyone help?

i made the scrollbar using CSS - i'm pretty sure there are tutorials around for it.

the reason i switched from flash to simple html is because i'm constantly updating this thing and i have to send all the stuff through the school (i cant upload it personally) so html is easier. (plus i havent yet conquered dynamic content).

and the colours can't be too out-there. (it's a catholic school lol).

i know what you mean about the content areas - i think they're a bit boring too - i'll work on that when i have time lol.

thanks jesse!

thanks ftl.

UPDATE: i managed to find a medium between firefox and explorer (there's something funny going on with the right padding). so it should look normal now in both firefox and explorer. *big sigh of relief*

In a word... boring. In two words... boring, cookiecutter (I think cookiecutter is 2 words but then that makes my "two words" into 3 :P)

I think the style is ok... but I think the lack of color just kills it. When I saw your site the first site that came to my mind as in what you could do w/ colors, was www.senocular.com. I think more vibrant colors would make this site muuuuch better, and keep me interested instead of putting me to sleep. Or you could even get away w/ some classy colors... but the tonal blues are ........

keep workin on it, just not good enough to really say... creative arts.

@jpolo there are tons of tutorials on how to skin the scrollbar, just go to w3 and it'll tell you. it's only a ie feature so it's almost pointless IMO.

I like it, it's focused and to the point, the design is good, but as simplistik said, could use a boost. Also one thing, you should preload those rollOver images (because this way it only starts loading them when you go over with your mouse button). Or even better, make them both one image and then use css to alternate between the two.

i know exactly what you mean simp. my sister said the same thing to me - "it's not really creative". i think i'll leave it for this term and during the july holidays i'll do a revamp. something a little more pizazzy.

you know how you start a project and then you sorta half finish it and then have to go with the colours you chose cos you dont have time to change them? that's what i felt happened with this site.

thanks simp & foodpk

i like this a lot as i mentioned on the last thread, but i often run my browser full screen and it's distracting that this site doesn't scale to the height of the window.
