I have an old hardrive set as a slave in my computer and I still have a lot of files on there that I would like to keep. I have tried to back up some things from my current HD and have run out of space. Drat. Would it be eaasier to reformat or uninstall windows(and how!)?

EDIT: Just going to reformat, thanks to the people V (down) that helped!

Thank you in advance,

Go into the Windows folder and look for the uninstal file. Make sure your doing it on the right hard drive.... Maybe I'm talking crap but I'm sure I did it before on my old 98 machine years ago...

I'm pretty sure 98 doesn't have a file that just uninstalls the entire OS. You can format the harddrive or just burn everything that's on it to a CD.

Since you're not using the actual operating system files, you can just go in and start deleting them...Just make sure not to delete any of the files you were wanting to save!

You can probably safely delete most all files in the /windows directory

also, be sure to delete /windows/options/cabs if it exists (these are installation files for windows 98).

With that said, this is not the way I would go about doing things. I would want to totally reformat the drive...but you said you ran out of room when you tried to copy your folders over to your master hdd so that doesn't leave you a whole lot of options.

Thanks for the replys guys, I believe I will reformat entirely since I still have some other installed prgrams and the like and it would take forever to delete them individually.
