So, I've been invited to go to the National Youth Technology Forum out in Silicon valley this summer. I was wondering if anybody on the forums has been there and could tell me if it was educational ect. before I go and spend the $3000 to do it.

:D

Thanks

They make you pay? Usually they'd pay for it all or at least cheapen it up a bit, I guess not. As long as you can ge your parents to pay though, Go!

$1700

I too was invited to that one. i was going to go, i had the slot... but decided i couldn't miss school.

and i'm right next to DC too!

it was a good opportunity i shouldn't have passed up... although you had to wear a suit and visit museums and stuff... still looks good for college :)

..sounds like it is, according to the site the tuition is $2340 plus airfaire and meals in transit .. so $3k might not be so bad a price if these things are included. Also, invitation or strict acceptance by application appear the only way to be included.

Yeah, I got invited to go too, it's in Silicon Valley, at the end of June, into the beginning of July, 10 days. I got an invitation today. This may be a cool way to meet some other kF members, and it sounds fun. I want to go, but it's a lot of money. The 3000 includes room and board, plus food though; but not airfare.

I think it's a scam. More or less.

I dunno, looked pretty official to me. The invitations they sent out were on cardstock with gold emblem popup thingamajigers all over the place. It must have cost them 5 bucks per invitation. The mail stampage alone was like 89 cents. (2x 37 centers, plus 3x 5 centers)

same with my jrnylc... the envelope looked like it was expensive :)

it's legit most likely, otherwise the police would know

btw, in most cases your school refers you to the thing, you'll see your teachers name somewhere on the letter

besides... i went to govenors school.... Never paid a dime and its looks super sick on your resume... your state may not have it because its not cool... but NC started it... its a summer camp for 400 kids... the top students of NC..... we stayed at either Salem College or Merideth... and learned...you got nominated in either vocal, orchestra, natural science, history, spanish, math, english, drama, or art... and you study that subject while learning philosophy and socialogy... it was so sweet.. just like college.... and all modern ideals and thoughts... we had seminars, concerts, a huge college fair... i was told that SCAD... the college i was gonna go to.. offered 6000 a year scholarship just for going to governors school.... it was a blast...

... well, they appear to be registered and legit ....

try googling their co. name and find hits at other forums and such to get a feel for any improprieties that may exist/ or validations
