Pop music like Westlife really sucks. But other bands are OK. Some music I just zone out.

Personally, I prefer groups where the members can actually play their own instruments and write their own songs, rather than wannabes who just stand there singing covers.

I think I have seen one too many reality TV shows about this now. :)

I pretty much dislike all pop music.. (certainly not because it's popular to do so.. I've always disliked the stuff).. but at least I'm with Kit on this. I'll be forgiving if they have musical talent. I may not listen to em.. but I wont ***** either. I really really don't like pop "stars" who can't play a lick though.. that's just sad. That money could go to much better ends.

I agree. Music altogether will lose all sense of talent if this continues. Pop music will never be orginal again. Too bad for Michael Jackson...

sorry mlk.. I listen to folk music, clasic rock, and some punk or metal on occation. It's not a matter of who produces it.. I just don't enjoy either the themes or the sound of pop music. Does nothing for me. :)

Don't tell me you haven't seen other forums that have censored their words as well.

And as for those other types of pop music, i've never heard of them as they may be largely popular in european countries. This country is too busy trying to make pop stars and playing american pop song to be involved with other forms of pop music.

I've thought of two additional things that I need to say in this thread. :)
Firstly.. though I say I don't like pop music.. there are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule. There have been songs that have come along that I've enjoyed. Hell, I listen to Pink on occation. That certainly doesnt' indicate that I hate all pop. It's just a generalization.
Secondly, there are a few reasons that I have for disliking pop, which have nothing to do with the bands or the music they play.

When I got out of high school I had 3 clasic rock stations that I listened too. Now, there is one and it sucks. It's not that there are not any rock stations.. but I really don't want to hear "brown eyed girl" every day at 5 pm, and "take the long way home" every day at 6 am. Program directors, in general suck. Now on a rock station I can almost take this repeditive set your watch to the time a song plays, type practice.. but here's the thing about pop. I work in a building with aluminum walls. We get 1 station in here.. 1.. there is no choice if you want to listen to music you bring in cd's or you listen to the radio. Well.. the one station we do get is the worst of the worst pop radio stations with the formatted prerecorded condition that drives me up the wall. I've now heard "Do you love me" by No Doubt 3 times tonight. Once each two hours. In between I'm guerentied to hear 3 times, Justin Timberlake singing "Cry me a river". and 7 or 8 other titles. These repeat over and over and over and over at regular intervals. I can time my nightly work off of what's playing at a particular time.
Really I guess as far as pop music is concerned.. I dislike the industry as much as any other aspect of the music. I'm sure that this is a big reason why I'm jadded to pop music. If it's on **** Clark's top twenty.. I've heard it hundreds of time in a week. That just sucks. I enjoy lots of different music, and other than internet radio, which I'm not allowed to listen to in here.. there aren't any stations that catter to that.
I have started making some mixed cd's from the stuff I have at home, and I do play these to break up the songs that I'm hearing on the radio.. but there is only so much music that I own, and I don't download mp3's that I haven't purchased in some format or another. Working nights.. if I didn't have music to listen to, even music I'm sick of.. I'd be asleep.

I don't know if any of the above is important to anyone at all.. but I hope it explains that I am not one to just dislike music because it belongs to a genre. I like all sorts of songs, from every range. I just have specific reasons for being sick of pop in general.

haha, that's why I'm doing the whole internet radio station thing... to showcase good music that doesnt get played in the radio... (I hate Clear Channel Communications with a passion... HUGE monopoly on radio... ) I'm so sick of hearing Rush everyday...

He collaborates and works with pLot. But in actuality he runs his own company called The International Style ( http://www.thisisis.com/ ).

So while some projects are pLot related, I don't believe he is a pLot employee, but rather someone who collaborates on some projects and gets subcontracted through pLot.

I could be wrong though.
