is there a dynamic way to draw lines drawing something ??

I want to have lines draw something like a flower or something.. But the only way I have been told how to is with keyframe after keyframe.. This can not be... I have to make something like 300 frames if I want something cool..

Is there anything more dynamic like with aftereffects or 3d programs or plug ins for apps ?? Any that live on OSX ?? '

I know of a way in Flash, but if you cant use it then Im not sure what you can do.

What is this going into? A comp or someother animation?

A mate of mine Robin Kohli made this after seeing it in the Flash Forward conference. You can add any alpha numeric characters you want as a set to draw with. You would probably want to ise charaters like dashes, em-dashes, underscors, slashes, and whatever the " | " charater is called.
