Putting together a postcard for a fur retailer. I'm using an image of a model that i want to be grayscale, except for the color of the fur she's wearing, which i will colorize in a new color. I guess I'm going to start using the brush with an overlay on the image. The thing is, I need this piece to seperate into 2 color. 1 will be just process black, and the other, probable a pms 7424 (pink) for the jacket. Anyone know how to attack this in photochop and get the 2 color seperation?
Where you at Simp?

Ah, well that's a pretty easy one, you already have 2 spots... now it seems if you want shading in the pink?

If that's the case you just take the 7424 base, color... so you have 1 spot black 1 7424, now if you just add percentages of black to the 7424, it's still considered a 2 spot color job.

I think that answered your question...

hmmm, I think my approach is more complicated than it should be.
What I did was take my image (which was cmyk) and converted it to grayscale, then converted it back to cmyk so I could add the color accents to the coat. But I havn't began to add my color, all I have at this point is a cmyk document with a grayscale image on it. Where should I start?

I sent you a PM, I'll teach you how to do it so it only registers the black and another color, after you convert it, but hit me up on MSN or AIM, it'll be easier for me to show you hands on instead of in this thread. Besides, I can't give up all the tricks of the trade :P

Actually I'm gonna post this quick comp that I did... it's left in CMYK so I can't post a JPG or anything, but if you mouse over all the areas of the converted one you'll notice that the only value that will change is the black, and when you hit the red... the the CMY will stay the same but the K will change in values too. Which I believe is what you want... 2 colors only right? Which can't be done just by converting to Greyscale :D
