Interface Design [Project 1]

Alright, well I need some idea's here, below is the explanation of my first project for class,



Describe in detail the requirements of an interface for a future technology. Acting as the 'the client', construct a breif, this breif will then be given to another student in the class to undertake.

You are therefore required to be the 'designer for a client' as well as the 'client for a designer'.

At the conclusion of the project you must be able to demonstrate that you have satisfied all the performance criteria stated below.

The interface must have as a minimum:

visual navigation elements which make use of metaphor
three layered and nested menu components
navigation which can be understood with out written explanation
the ability to accommodate expansion
My problem is that I cant think of a future technology to create an interface for, I need to write up a breif of 500 words about a future technology interface, that 500 words will then be given to another student and he will need to follow that to create the interface in Photoshop.


- If anyone understands this project and can think of a future technology that I can write up 500 words for describing the interface, please let me know, im lost for what I could do...

well i think you could even make something simple then like on mouse overs you could zoom into the part of the interface to show all the tine little parts

hmm i dont do interfaces so im just throwing out ideas

Thanks Kaotic, Anyway does anyone else have any idea's [?] Iv had a small think and iv been thinking that I could write up a breif for an interface for a new mobile phone that includes: 20/30GB internal memory, MP3 player, 9mpx camer, video camera, internet...

^^ do that at least you have an idea in your head of what the interface would look like whereas doing an interface based on nanotechnology would be quite hard to think up.

P.S. When I read the thread title I thought you were building a GUI via programming :)

maybe get one of those pictures of nanotech machines and make that part of the nav or somthing, can u do 3d?

Thanks for the idea's guys, Iv got my idea and iv written up my 500 brief about it. A quick intro to what it is, is below:



The modern day car has become so advanced that it now has its own system formally known as ‘auto pilot’. This system means that you know longer need to control with a wheel where the car goes, you simply use the hand held LCD screen on the dash of the car. With the hardware completed and past testing we need to move onto the software side of things, creating some sort of ‘easy to use, but yet nice neat visual interface, for the average motor car user’.

oooh cool one, maybe have the lcd screen as the main layout sort of thing, (use photographs of a palm pc) and have the fingers move to click the butons when you press them, that could be cool, depends how much info you need to put in tho
