Well just to let you all know I just got back from spring break. This year we went to Hollywood FL. If any of you ever go to Florida, try not to get a place here, it's infested with old people. I only stayed here because there was nothing left. The hotel was on the beach so I couldn't complain.

Anyway, our week there was awesome. We played football out on the beach pretty much every day, we went to clubs and bars in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, we met some pretty messed up characters going to and from FL, and oh yeah, got smashed every night; basically it was all good.

The Beauty
Like I mentioned the hotel we stayed at was right on the beach, but unfortunately, our room was on the other side of the building, didn't really matter, didn't really care. The weather was beautiful. Where I go to school, it's either raining, snowing, windy, or all of the above. While we were in FL it was above 75 every day. It rained once but we didn't care. The beach itself was beautiful. I would post the pictures from the trip but they're almost 2MB a pop and there are easily over 100 of them. A website will be made shortly once they're all collected. The cities were beautiful as well. We went in mostly at night to scope out the area and to check out the clubs and stuff.

My spring break actually started a week earlier compared to some of my other friends' colleges so we didn't meet that many people our age. There was this one group of people where I met probably the nicest/hottest girl ever...

The Pain
They were part of some nondenominational church located right by my school. My friends and I were walking down the broadwalk right by the hotel when we encountered them. They pretty much ensnared us. Almost immediately this girl starts talking to me. We find out we have a lot in common blah blah blah, I was interested in her, she seemed interested in me, I seriously thought this was the one. Then amidst the conversation, she starts talking about Jesus. I thought to myself, this couldn't be good. Then I find out she's part of this Christian group. She explains to me how she saw the light or whatnot in some incident and became the person she was now. She was completely normal before she joined this group and now she seemed brainwashed. My friends were starting to get annoyed with the group's bandwagon so they started leaving and I was starting to get worried about this girl. My friends started telling me under their breathes that I shouldn't get involved with her. I didn't pay attention. I then set a goal to de-convert her to the way she was. Before they left she said they might want to see us again, so I gave her my number. Biggest mistake of all: I didn't get hers. She said she'd call when they wanted to meet up again. She never did. Now I'm pissed off/depressed and my friends are making fun saying how I'm dating a Jesus-freak. I'm just slowly trying to get back on track.

But enough about that, the rest of the trip was awesome. One night we were trying to find people our age so we went to the University of Miami's campus. We drove around yelling at people saying how much our school was better than theirs (we beat their football team twice in a row, the first time breaking a winning streak). So instead of meeting people that night we ended up flaming their school. 3 of my friends decided to piss on one of their buildings, it was terrible, I know, but our inhibitions had been lost long before.

I could go on and on with what we did, but then I'd just be rambling. I will eventually have that website up (seriously serious about this one) and you could take a look at some of the pics we took, hopefully we'll have captions on them as well.

So anyway, I thought I'd share this great experience of mine.

Later!

Sweet Thor - my family has a condo in Fort Lauderdale right by Port Everglades, I like it, but like you said... it's a haven for old people.

What hotel did you stay at?

Eternal - It's right South of Ft. Lauderdale, in fact, the airport is the "Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport"

Hollywood is in between Miami and Ft. L. I stayed at the Hollywood Beach Tower Resort. It's a pretty old hotel which was apparently a dorm. The service was awful but we got by.

@eternalstudios: sometimes they follow you around, they are like sales people.

they basically stalk you until you break and go to the lord for help

they are doing the right thing using the wrong methods :(

it should be a choice... off the subject :)

hollywood,fl :) sounds like a nice place... was the beach pretty empty? not many people were already out for spring break, even if a lot were

i actually read that exact article. the hotel was absolute crap in my opinion. everything was worn out and they hit me with hidden charges when i checked out. the beaches were empty pretty much on work days. a day or two before we left the younger people started coming so we were pretty pissed off.

I mean, you made it out to be incredibly bad, and also made it out that the entire denomination are a bunch of nutcases. I'm agnostic, however Christianity has plenty of fundamental merits and i've plenty of mates that subscribe to it, and are perfectly normal... They know where I stand ;).

we got sort of a similar problem here in Edinburgh with religious groups but it's Hare Krishnas instead...

but what you do is tell them you're catholic...not Christain, Catholic...and they very nearly run away from you

not sure why

sounds like you had fun Thor, looking forward to seeing those pics :thumb:

Hey - I resent that remark!

We all hang out in New Zealand where the sun shines 3 days in the year and our houses are made from flax and mud!!!

 say wha?

ft lauderdale is too crowded
Try walking west on the beach towards Port Everglades (south from the strip), it's deserted, plus the beach isn't eroding down there.
